This week in Grade 1/2 PH, we have been learning about ‘Gender and Identity’. In particular we are learning about ‘Gender based violence’ and the forms it can take. In our session this week, students listened to different scenarios and practised identifying the following:

What was the violence? (physical harm, words, exclusion etc.)

How might the victim feel?

If you saw this happening, what could you do or say?

For each scenario, students talked with a partner and then shared their ideas. They were able to brainstorm lots of great strategies to use if they were to see this happening, and could also identify who to turn to for help if they experienced something similar.

SWPBS

It is looking highly likely that we will reach the Level 4 Whole School Reward for this term. This is very exciting for our students, they have been working hard to earn acknowledgements to reach the Level 4 Reward, which is a Pool Party. We have not announced this to our students yet - we are looking to communicate this towards the end of Week 9. 

However, we do want to let you know now, so that you can prepare for this event.

There will be a Compass event created and pushed out to you very soon, for your child to gain permission to participate. The fee will be around $11.

We had our final SRC meeting today, where our wonderful representatives were rewarded with a 'Pizza Party'. We are very proud of the outstanding work done by our team, fundraising, planning, discussing, writing a personalised 'Acknowledgment of Country', more fundraising, giving up lunch breaks and more fundraising! We will update our community of the final fundraising numbers and updated 'Pear Square' developments soon!
