Australian Marine Oil Spill Centre

Year 7 LEAP Excursi

Australian Marine Oil Spill Centre Excursion

As part of the Year 7 LEAP Interdisciplinary Program, Nina Bulic reached out to industry experts to gain support in developing her solution to pollution. Her focus was to deal with ocean oil spills. Nina was fortunate in being invited to the Geelong centre where she spent the day learning about the facilities and even participating in some of the training program.

Nina was escorted by her father and she interacted with the staff and Phillip Starkins, Chief Executive Officer, who made this experience a reality.

Nina gained a great deal of insight into how her solution could work and about how the centre is acting to protect the environment when spills take place.

Taylors Lakes Secondary College is very grateful for the generosity of the centre and will pursue the offer of a larger group of students attending in 2024. This experience will be opened up to 25 students in years 7-10 who are keen to protect the environment and/or have an interest in the area of engineering.
