Rob V comes to Fatima  

This year Our Lady of Fatima PS received a grant for Mathematics. We have used this money to buy resources,  give students some amazing experiences like Maths World and the Amazing Race and allow our staff to take part in great professional learning. 

This term we seized the opportunity to invite Rob Vingerhoets to school to work with teachers and students. Rob takes an inquiry approach to Maths, telling stories to set up real world problems to solve. Our students have used a range of strategies to solve  problems and have learnt a lot about the way they learn best. This includes drawing, modelling, making tables, talking and using algorithms - so many ways to think mathematically! All students were very engaged and had lots of fun too.
