Year 7

This term Year 7 built their own business for $20 Boss. This project is always a favourite at Henry Kendall high School, and it was so great to listen to the teams as they planned their business strategy.

Early in the term, teams came together to pitch their business ideas for our Shark Tank panel. Their goal was to see who could not only make a successful business, but ultimately make the most profit from just $20. They used a combination of Math and English skills to make their financial plan and then advertise their businesses. Market day was a huge success, with stalls selling taco cups, slices, pizzas, fairy floss and so much more. Every year, Year 7 selects a charity to donate their profits to, this year we were able to donate $600 to Cancer Council Australia.

And who raised the most profit? This honour goes to the Bubbyhead Raffle.

Congratulations Year 7.

Year 8

For our last Applied Learning project, Year 8 explored Math and Design while making Gingerbread houses. This project was a lot of fun and saw us sketching house designs, calculating the surface area of lollies, rolling dough, mixing icing and constructing some awesome houses. As always, we love witnessing the process our students go through when they see their idea from the initial brainstorm right up to the final presentation. Their problem solving and the support they give each other is amazing.

Well done Year 8.
