Year Advisers

Report - 7, 9 & 11

Year 7 have made some outstanding progress this year in their growth and development. They have displayed incredible determination in working towards successful achievement of our five key action areas:

  • Empathy,
  • Teamwork,
  • Resilience,
  • Responsibility and
  • Gratitude

Term three had some significant events on the calendar, including $20 Boss, the Luna Park excursion and the Zone Gala Day.

Year 7 have worked extremely hard towards their $20 Boss project held in Week 8 this term. The preparation, teamwork and structure seen in all displays on the day, is something that made me very proud as a Year Adviser of this tremendous group. This would go down as one of the best year groups to complete this challenge in the Applied Learning course and they should be very proud.

We also concluded a great year by participating in two rewards-based excursions. The Zone Gala Day was held at Adcock Park and included students from Henry Kendall High School's Year 7 and 8 cohorts. The students were chosen based on their efforts in our PDHPE course, regarding their behaviour, willingness to always participate to their best and always wearing the correct uniform. The students chosen, represented the school proudly. Special mention to the Year 7 boys group who achieved third place on the day.

The Luna Park excursion was a fun way to complete the term’s events. Students who earned the Top Ten Sentral points in the Year 7 cohort, had the privilege of attending this event. This was a great group of students, who deserved the recognition for their achievements this year. They represented the school very proudly, with exceptional manners and behaviour on the day.

I couldn’t be prouder of Year 7’s achievements this year and I encourage all students to continue to focus on our core values as a year group and reflect positively on their achievements and growth this year.

It has been a pleasure working with Year 7 this year, while getting to know them on a personal and an academic level. I look forward to fostering our relationship into Year 8 next year.

Well done Year 9, we made it to the end of 2023!

The second half of this term was jam packed with special events, peer support mentoring and lots of musical performances.

First of all, a massive thank you to our peer support mentors who helped run Year 6 Orientation Day and support the STAR Program each Tuesday. Your support in helping our future Year 7 students settle into life at Henry Kendall High School is valuable and has not gone unnoticed.

During Weeks 8 and 9, we had students support the Year 7 Applied Learning $20 Boss event with live music. Well done to everyone who got up on stage and performed in front of the entire school!

Congratulations to those students who received Bronze, Silver, Gold and Year Adviser Awards this term. There are too many to name which goes to show how many of you are going above and beyond around the school!

Finally, during Week 9, we had a number of students rewarded for the high number of Sentral points they earn throughout the year with a free trip to Luna Park! Well done to those students who braved the Sledgehammer.

Thank you for a fantastic year. We wish you all a safe and happy holiday break! We can’t wait to see you all in Year 10 next year.

Year 9 Adviser

Congratulations to the Class of 2024 on successfully completing their first term of Year 12 HSC content! Over the last few weeks of the term, Year 11/12 students have been busy with assessment tasks, and the vast majority of them worked with maturity and responsibility. Now, they have earned a well-deserved rest over the summer holidays, with some revision and holiday homework to keep them on track.

Acknowledging the Achievements of Our Top 10 Sentral Points Recipients: It is with great pleasure that we congratulate the following students:

Alissa Rutter, Jorja Moes, Lucinda Peck, Hayley Norris, Jessica Hunter, Ava Trundle, Brendan Warner, Sanika Nou, Jake Lofthouse, and Utsav Sapkota. Their hard work and dedication throughout the year have been remarkable, and we are very proud of them. Well done and congratulations!

Ending the Year with a Bang: We're ending the year in the best way possible, with three days at the Great Aussie Bush Camp to complete the Life Ready course and have an unforgettable bonding experience. A range of exciting, fun activities were organised for students including high ropes, kayaking, mud run, giant swing, archery, and leap of faith. These challenges aimed to push the students to their limits and help them conquer their personal fears. All students and teachers have returned extremely tired but have plenty of fun anecdotes.

As we close out the year, I want to congratulate the year group one more time. I'm incredibly proud of their growth and perseverance, and I can't wait to see what next year holds for them. Although I already know I will not be ready to say goodbye to them when they graduate!

As the year comes to an end, I would like to extend my warmest wishes to all Year 11/12 students and their families. Have a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Take some time to unwind and recharge. Stay safe, enjoy the holidays, and spread kindness to those around you. We'll see you all next year for our final 3 terms.

Keep in mind that

"Self-belief is the secret to success."
