Mathematics Faculty
The Mathematics Faculty extends its heartfelt congratulations to students for their unwavering commitment and exceptional efforts throughout 2023. Numerous students have demonstrated remarkable proficiency in setting personal learning goals and actively participating in all classroom activities, resulting in significant advancements in their mathematical skills and depth of knowledge.
A special congratulations is in order for our resilient Year 12 class of 2023, who navigated a challenging high school experience with determination and perseverance. We are confident that your diligence will be rewarded with outstanding HSC results upon their release. Regardless of the outcomes, we hope that the valuable skills acquired at Henry Kendall High School will serve you well in your future endeavors, bringing fulfillment to whatever path you choose.
It has been truly pleasing to witness students across all year levels maintain their dedication until the culmination of the academic year. Our current Year 11/12 students have initiated their HSC year on a positive note, completing their first assessment tasks in Weeks 9 and 10. While the upcoming holidays present an opportunity for rest and rejuvenation, they also offer a prime opportunity to organise notes, revisit challenging concepts, complete topic summaries, and ensure all coursework is up-to-date. With ample content covered, all mathematics students could benefit from practicing past HSC questions related to the material learned so far. As 2024 brings three terms of hard work, commencing preparations during the holidays could prove invaluable.
Throughout 2023, our highly successful 'Maths and Milo' mornings have been a consistent feature. This free math tutorial class welcomes students to drop into GL9 from 8.00am onwards every Tuesday morning, providing a platform for receiving math tutoring or mentoring younger students. It's a delightful opportunity to unravel mathematical challenges over a cup of Milo! No prior registration is necessary for 'Maths and Milo,' so feel free to join. We eagerly anticipate continuing this valuable program in 2024 and extend our special thanks to Mrs Lill for her dedicated coordination.
The introduction of the 'Golden Calculator' this year has proven to be a triumph as a reward scheme available to all Mathematics students. It's crucial to remember that this initiative recognises effort rather than results, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to achieve this honour (along with the accompanying $10 canteen voucher!)
As we approach the holiday season, we extend our warm wishes to the entire school community for an enjoyable and safe break. We look forward to reconnecting with everyone in the upcoming year.
