New Sports Uniform
Reminder!
The College is excited to announce important updates regarding our sports uniform.
After thorough discussions with our staff and valuable input from our students, we are proud to introduce new elements to our sports uniform. These changes reflect our commitment to fostering a sense of belonging and pride within the Mount Alvernia College community.
1. House Shirts:
One of the key updates to our sports uniform is the introduction of House shirts, which will replace the current sports shirts. These shirts will showcase the House colours, uniting students to proudly represent their House. Our goal is to enhance the sense of shared identity and House pride.
2. Core Shorts:
In addition to the House shirts, we are excited to introduce new core sports shorts. These shorts have been designed to ensure they meet the highest standards of performance and comfort. These shorts will be worn for PE lessons and the majority of CaSSSA sports.
There will also be an additional sport-specific short (Rugby, AFL and Basketball) as well as the introduction of a performance bike short - these additions will be announced in 2024.
3. Co-Curricular Shirt and Singlet
2024 will also see the introduction of an updated co-curricular sports shirt and singlet. The shirt and singlet are uniform in design, allowing students freedom of choice between the two. Both items have been developed to ensure our Mt A athletes are easily identifiable and performing in a uniform that is functional and contemporary.
Transition Period:
For our incoming Year 7 students, starting in 2024, the new sport uniforms will be compulsory for HPE and co-curricular sports. All other year levels will have a 12-month grace period for all other year levels.
For example, if your child is entering Year 8 in 2024, they will not be required to wear the new sports uniforms until the commencement of Year 9 in 2025.
Encouragement to Purchase:
We warmly welcome and encourage all families to consider purchasing the new sport uniforms, even if your child is not immediately required to do so. Wearing the new sports uniforms will not only boost your child's sense of belonging but also demonstrate their support for our College and House community. Our new sports uniforms will be available to purchase from Term 1, 2024.
