JAPAN TOUR PART 3

Kyoto and Osaka

We had just experienced the high-tech, busy streets of Tokyo. Now, it was time to venture into beautiful and traditional Kyoto, the old capital of Japan. Situated here are many famous shrines and temples that we got to visit such as Kiyomizudera – a temple overlooking a vast forest of green, Kinkakuji – a temple painted with real gold, and Fushimi Inari – a shrine dedicated to foxes with a thousand red torii gates climbing the mountain. '

With all the beautiful views came a lot of walking but it was all worth it in the end to see the wonderful architecture of old Japan.

From Kyoto, we did a day trip out to Osaka, about a 40 minute bullet train journey away. Osaka can be likened to the Melbourne of Japan with lots of pop culture, shopping and delicious food! We explored the various shopping arcades as well as a shrine or two. Some of us rode the giant Ferris wheel embedded into the side of a building.

All in all, the last of our travels were filled with memories that will never be forgotten. Next up is our homestay in Tokoname!
