Student Voice & Student Agency

Four Year 3 students wrote to Banyule Council requesting to make a change to our neighbourhood. Here is their letter as well as the response they received from the council.

Click on each letter to enlarge the image or read them both on the Student Voice Page.

Congratulations to Sienna, Stella, Zoe and Isis for using their initiative, and achieving this great outcome.

2024 Foundation Transition Program

The Foundation Transition Program is now in full swing. Several staff members will be on leave for the final transition session. I am pleased to announce that at next Wednesday's Foundation transition session our newest students will meet their 2024 teachers. The 2024 Foundation Team are:

FHKareema Hachem (Team Leader)
FMMollie McCormick
FKSue Kelly (Learning Specialist)
FDRosemarie Di Francesco

Please remember that teachers work on the very complex task of creating classes. Teachers and education support staff have input into how classes are made up, taking into consideration students telling us who they work well with in the classroom.

That information, along with information from reports etc, ensure classes are inclusive and fair.  We have highly skilled, passionate and professional teachers who care about student learning and wellbeing.  Whilst we understand that parents know their children, we ask you to trust in our professional expertise.  We therefore cannot take requests for particular teachers, but please rest assured that we all work together so that each and every child gets the best possible placement.

Dear ICAS Families of IPS

I've been in contact with ICAS earlier this week, regarding the delayed arrival of 1/4 of our students' certificates.

ICAS informed me that they have most likely been lost in the post. I've communicated to ICAS our desire to reward our students with their certificates in a timely fashion, and they've agreed to reprint the said certificates and send them to us.

The certificates should be here by the first week of December and thus I'm hopeful we can present certificates and recognise student participation in a school assembly prior to the end of the year.

We thank you kindly for your patience with this matter and I will send out more information regarding assembly presentations, once a date is confirmed.

Sincerely,

Jeremy Tottenham
