Maths Competition results

Well done on completing the school year in 2023!  It’s been a big year with multiple competitions happening.  Let’s celebrate the high-achieving results in Maths at Box Hill High School this year!

UniMelb Maths Competition

This very unconventional and challenging problem-solving competition ran in May and had 94 students participating in the Junior and Intermediate categories.

Congratulations to Alex Robb (8Z) and Oscar McKinley (7Z) for achieving a Merit! 😊

Australian Intermediate Mathematical Olympiad

Congratulations to Yiyang Xu for achieving a Distinction on the Australian Intermediate Mathematical Olympiad!  This is an amazing feat, ranking Yiyang in the top 150 of students who participated in this competition!

This competition is used to identify students for selection in AMT’s invitational high-performance competitions.

Victorian Coding Challenge

Congratulations to Oscar Mckinlay, Frank Du and Hamish Robotham for achieving 6th overall in stage 2 of the Victorian Coding Challenge!

In the lead-up to this second part, Oscar, Frank and Hamish spent the early half of the year meeting outside of school hours to work on a series of tasks together. Through their persistence and effort, they were invited to Stage 2 of the VCC and achieved an overall 6th place!

Well done, the three of you!
