Junior School Update

As we reflect on the incredible journey of the past year in the Junior School, it fills me with immense pride to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of our students and the unwavering dedication of our remarkable Junior School team. The many experiences, from enriching camps and exciting excursions to insightful incursions, has truly defined this year for us.

Our students embarked on unforgettable journeys, such as the Year 7 camp to Camp Manyung in Mount Eliza and the Year 8 Camp to The Summit in Trafalgar.  Additionally, we delved into crucial topics through incursions, with sessions led by the Victoria Police and focused on Cyber Safety. These experiences have not only broadened horizons but have also instilled invaluable life skills.

A focal point for us this year has been enhancing communication with parents/guardians. Our commitment to regular posts, updates, and key reminders stems from a desire to keep you informed and involved in your child's educational journey. Moreover, we have placed particular emphasis on connecting with families with an English as an Additional Language (EAL) background, recognising the importance of engaging with every member of our diverse community.

This term has been marked by significant decisions, including subject selections and friendship preferences for Home Groups in 2024. Every decision has been made with meticulous consideration, consulting with teachers to ensure an optimal learning environment. As students eagerly anticipate their Home Groups, we encourage them to embrace the opportunity for new connections, fostering resilience and positivity as they embark on this fresh chapter.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Junior Team, each member contributing significantly to the success of the year. Special thanks to Lucy Maxwell, our Year 7 Coordinator, for her invaluable support of Year 7 students during the transition to high school. We congratulate her on her new role as a Leading Teacher, in charge of Inclusion for the school in 2024.

Shamaine Ng, our Year 8 Coordinator, has been a beacon of support and positivity for our Year 8s. Going above and beyond her role, she has organised numerous events (sporting comps, study clubs, tournaments) to create positive opportunities for all Year 8 students. Thank you, Shamaine, for your dedication.

Minnie Zeng, our Assistant Coordinator, has played a vital role in supporting our EAL students and ensuring effective communication with teachers. Her tireless efforts have made a significant impact on our team, and we are grateful for her contributions.

A heartfelt acknowledgment goes to Kiran, our Admin Support, whose proactive and friendly approach keeps the Junior School running smoothly. Her forward-thinking and support for our students and teachers makes her an invaluable asset to our team.

To our incredible Year 7 and 8 students, your continued efforts, resilience, and embodiment of our school values—respect, creativity, resilience, and growth—are truly commendable. Witnessing your growth and adaptation to high school life has been a rewarding experience for us all.

As we bid farewell to this academic year, may the upcoming break be a time of renewal, happiness, and growth for each of you. Take the opportunity to recharge, disconnect from devices, and connect with your family.  Wishing you all a wonderful break and looking forward to the opportunities that the 2024 school year will bring.
