Middle School Update

We have had a great Term 4 in Middle School with a range of different learning opportunities both at school and out on excursions.

Our Year 9s explored Melbourne CBD over two days.  They participated in an Amazing Race around the city, learnt about our local street artists as they walked through the laneways, and experienced IMAX in 3D.  It was great seeing students strengthen their connections with their peers while experiencing our city.

Our Year 10s did well to get ready for and complete their end of year exams.  This was good practice to prepare them for VCE exams.  Students then had a few days in their VCE Jumpstart classes and will have holiday homework to do before returning for 2024.  We wish our Year 10s all the best as they move into Senior School!  Mr Barnett will also be moving up with them as their Year 11 Coordinator.

We finished the year off with our Year 10 celebration day, where students participated in trivia, games, a movie, and a Proactivity incursion.  Our Year 9s enjoyed excursions to Luna Park and Gumbuya World.  They also had class activities run by our School for Student Leadership students to strengthen a sense of belonging and inclusion at our school.

I would like to thank our Middle School Team for all their work supporting our students this year:

Janine and Kylie have been great checking-in with families, organising events and keeping our office running smoothly.  Ms Kertes ran our Year 10 Program, planned fun activities, sorted the many exam clashes at the end of Term and worked with a lot of our Year 9 and 10 students throughout the year.  Ms Wilkinson has supported our Year 9s, encouraging positive behaviour with the ‘Green chronnies’ and celebrating student progress and achievements at every opportunity.  Mr Barnett has been proactive in strengthening our Year 10s sense of belonging by providing opportunities for our students to connect with each other throughout the year.

We wish Ms Kertes, Ms Wilkinson and Mr Barnett all the best as the move into different roles within the school next year and thank them for being a part of the first year of Middle School!

I hope our Middle School families have a restful, happy, and fun break over the holidays together.  We look forward to seeing you all next year!
