Senior School 2023 Wrap-up

Congratulations to all of our Senior School students and their families for a really successful year at Box Hill High School. Term 4 has been a wonderful term of celebration and reflection, and seeing how our students managed themselves at the end of the year made us very proud. What a privilege it is for us to be part of their end-of-school journey.

While term 4 for Year 12s was only two weeks of classes, they got to experience all the big events that come with finishing school. On their last day, the Prefects ran a beautiful assembly that perfectly celebrated their time at school over the past six years. That morning we were also lucky enough to have the Year 12 parents on-site for our celebration breakfast. The senior team and the library hosted a fantastic celebration of our students, and how far they have come since first starting school in 2018.  After exams, we had the final celebration – our Year 12 Valedictory Dinner at San Remo Ballroom in Carlton – which proved to be one of the more enthusiastic Valedictory Dinners Box Hill has seen in recent years.

Our Year 11 students have also had a very successful term, starting with electing our Year 12 2024 Prefects. After seeing them work hard during their planning day, we are incredibly excited to see what they will achieve next year. Their initiative is critical in creating meaningful school improvements and positive change, and we cannot wait to see what they come up with for our school community.

Year 11 celebrations hit a new high this year, with students finishing exams and having their “Year 12 Study Centre” handover and celebration lunch, where they had a pizza party in the common room with their teachers to celebrate the end of exams and the beginning of their Year 12 journey. The Year 11 Social was also a highlight for our hardworking students, particularly as this was the first year they were able to make such a celebration happen. I was so impressed by how respectful they were on the night, and how well they embraced the celebration of their achievements. I am very much looking forward to their formal next year.

Finally, I would like to thank our Senior School Team for all their hard work and professionalism this year. I look forward to working with Ms Arabella Thompson again next year as Year 12 Coordinator, and to welcoming Mr Jake Barnett as Year 11 Coordinator, Ms Gita Lama as Assistant Year Level Coordinator and Ms Kylie McCall as another Administrative Assistant for us.  Sharon O’Connell will be continuing with her role as our main Administrative Assistant.
