There has been a range of extension and enrichment opportunities available to our students this term. Here is just a brief snapshot of some of the activities on offer for our Year 9s.
Year 9 Science Challenge
Our Year 9 Science Challenge students have been busy taking astrophotography images to enter in the upcoming; Astrofest Spirit Image of the Year Award.
Under the guidance of Timothy Young from ICRAR, students used online telescopes and photo editing software to produce these images of nebulae and galaxies.
Astrofest is the largest Astronomy festival in Australia to be held at Curtin University this Saturday 18 November. Best wishes to our Year 9 students with their entries for this Award.
Year 9 Career Taster Incursion
A group of Year 9 students were treated to a valuable Career Taster Incursion with MPA Skills. The Career Taster concept provided a hands-on-experience to students, about what a career as a plumber or painter may look like. Students were engaged in activities whilst learning about apprenticeships, TAFE and pathways to careers in these areas. Thank you, MPA Skills, for sharing your expertise with our future workforce. Special mention to Ms Lin, Mr Hayes and Mr Barr and our wonderful MYPath Coordinator, Mrs Leach, for facilitating this experience for our students.
Best wishes for the remainder of Term 4.

This week our House communities came together to recognise and celebrate students within their House who achieved House Colours in 2023. These awards recognised the significant contribution these students had made to their House community this year. It was also an opportunity for the Heads of House to congratulate and encourage their House community and express their gratitude to the House Group teachers for their care and support of their students this year. It was wonderful to see our 2024 House Prefects take a leading role in their gathering, using it is an opportunity to develop and practice their public speaking skills.
I would like to extend my thanks and gratitude to our Pastoral Care team made up of our Heads of House: Mrs Pauline Galley, Mrs Sally Banks, Mr James Winter and Mr Quentin Hess, Ms Jaquie Fisher, Chaplain Justine and Ms Jobson for the ongoing support, encouragement and guidance they provide our students.
Our Year 10 and 11 students have now completed their second Module of the 'Tomorrow Man Tomorrow Woman' program as part of their Encounter experiences for 2023. Feedback from the students has been extremely positive and we look forward to the students completing Modules 3 and 4 in 2024.
