Term 4
It's been a wonderful few weeks in Prep, as we move closer to the end of the year. Each day we are seeing more and more growth, and we could not be prouder of what our students have achieved this term!
In Maths, students have finished their unit on Time and are currently exploring all things Data & Statistics. Students have been introduced to new vocabulary and have discussed and ordered events that occur on a regular school day.
As part of their Data & Statistics Unit, students have been asking questions to collect data about their classmates. They have also been collecting data around the school using tally marks and creating data displays.
We are blown away by the quality of work that our preps are producing at the moment. Looking back at the start of the year, it is crazy to see how much progress they have made. A few weeks ago, students learnt to write opinion pieces. This included stating their opinion and giving reasons to support. This unit concluded with their very own persuasive speeches, that they presented in front of their class. We are so proud of each and every student, for getting up and having a go!
Currently, we are exploring Information Texts. Students have been practising taking notes on different topics. They are in the process of contributing to a class Information Text, which will be sent home for families to see and r
We made the most of the beautiful weather and took our learning outside on those wonderful sunny mornings! Word building, word reading, sound swap and dictation - the preps continue to practise their letter sound knowledge, segmenting and blending skills, progressing through the initial code!
In Week 7, we sent home 'Sight Word Practise' packs. We encourage all families to have a go at these activities, this will support your child in both reading and writing sight words. Please contact us if you need another pack.
Thank you to all of our preps and prep families for going all out on French Day! It was so great to get dressed up and learn more about the French language and culture. As part of our French Day, we looked at famous French landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower. We challenged students to make the Eiffel Tower using just spaghetti and marshmallows - we had LOTS of fun!
Across the term, our preps have been visiting the Moriac Kindergarten. This is exciting for both our preps and the students who will be attending Moriac Primary School next year. They have taken part in different activities and play at both the Kindergarten and the school.
