45km Walk
45km Charity Walk to Bungawarra 2023
This year we had 99 participants, with 95 finishers. Participants included: students, staff, parents, alumni and friends of the school.
This event simply wouldn’t happen without the generous support of our school community.
- Thank you to the many, many staff who were involved in getting the event up and running again this year.
- Thank you to the volunteers who donated their time on the day to ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants.
- And finally, I would like to take this opportunity to say a special thank you to Mr George Vergotis. For many years, George has had the important role of organising the volunteers on the day, but this year he was instrumental in securing a new route for the Walk. Not only did this ensure that the event could go ahead, but that it can continue into the future. Thank you for the many kms you travelled on your motorbike, the hours you spent pouring over Google Maps, communications with private property owners, for marking out a safe and clear route for walkers, for constructing temporary river crossings and enlisting the help of your whole family in support of this event. You have served the Blue Mountains Grammar School community in a significant way.
It gives us great pleasure to announce that this year’s 45km Walk to Bungawarra raised a total of $10, 296.00 for charity. Congratulations to all participants on a wonderful fundraising effort.
Thank you to everyone who generously contributed to our nominated charity organisations: Compassion Australia, the Ibulanku School Uganda and Greystanes Disability Services, Leura.
We hope to see you next year as we celebrate the 30th year of this wonderful event.
