Dear Parents and Carers
Keeping Children Focused In Term 4
As this term progresses the children will become excited about the approaching Advent and Christmas seasons. It is very important that the children remain focused and settled throughout Term 4. When the children begin to bring Christmas cards, candy canes, and the like to school too early they tend to tune out.
It is for this reason and the fact that waiting is a part of our Catholic tradition within the season of Advent, the children may only begin to bring Christmas cards, candy canes, etc. for their classmates from the beginning of Week 10 – Monday 11 December.
Uniforms
Please continue to maintain a high standard for your child/ren's uniform. The uniform speaks outwardly of your child's respect for the school and other students in the school. The uniform includes the tidiness of hair.Students are required to wear their hair in a neat and tidy manner.
- Haircuts should be of an even grade.
- Hair should be well brushed and combed.
- Hair will not be in such a condition as to invite comment.
- Long hair is to be tied back or plaited, off the face and should not extend to cover the eyes.
- Navy blue headbands, ribbons and scrunchies are to be worn in the hair.
Please be aware of the following:
- Extreme styles, bleaching, colouring or dyeing of hair are not permitted.
- Gel, mousse and hair spray or other substances should not be used.
- There will be no undercuts, steps or shaved lines within the hair.
- Nothing shorter than a Number 2 comb is acceptable.
- Students who do not abide by the haircut requirements will be asked to fix the identified problem.
Thank you for your ongoing support of St Joseph's as we look to St Joseph as our example of faith in God, quality education, and care for the wellbeing of all in our school community.
Park Road Parking
We are very appreciative of the effort most parents take to park legally around the school and completely understand how difficult it is to find parking.
We have been made aware, however, that a number of parents are parking in the Bulli Anglican Church Car Park during afternoon pick-up. This car park is private property only available to the Anglican Church community during their weekly gatherings and weekend services.
Most importantly some residents access their driveway through this car park. Pleasedo notmake use of the front yard of 66a and the Anglican Church property at 66 Park Road for casual parking.
Christmas Story Art Feature
This week, and in the following weeks, we celebrate the artistic talent and ability of students to reflect on the Christmas Story through religious education.
The Wall of Peace and Hope
Eliza Seghabi
St. Joseph’s Primary School, Bulli
Year Six
My artwork represents the scripture passage ‘The Annunciation’ Luke 1:26-36 and is titled, ‘The Wall of Peace and Hope.’
I chose this scripture because it stands out to me as I feel it is one of the most important passages in the Bible. It depicts a brick wall with three stained glass windows. The windows represent Mary, the mother of God, Angel Gabriel and Joseph. Subtle words have been incorporated in the vines to show their connection to one another. I gave the vines more meaning by putting little love hearts throughout the words showing their bond to one another. I chose to put each person in stained glass windows because when I am at church I like to take a close look at the windows and think deeply about the meaning of what they really have to represent. In my artwork I have used watercolor pencils as they blend easily to create a three- dimensional effect. I used contrasting colours within each window to make each person stand out. Just like the vines, intertwined and connected, my family shares a similar bond. Our family will continue to grow but always remain connected.
Star Afar
Jacob King
St. Joseph’s Primary School, Bulli
Year Five
My artwork is based on the scripture passage Matthew 2:9-12 and is titled ‘Star Afar’.
As you can see, there is a star standing against the dark sky off towards the mountains showing the way to Jesus. The houses of Bethlehem stand still and abandoned as many people have left to see the saviour, Jesus. I chose to sketch a star against the mountain to really set the scene as though I was there myself. I love to take in my surroundings which is why I chose this perspective. My artwork was completely created out of watercolour paint and a hint of oil pastels to create a superior blend. I sketched out the houses, Holy Star and mountains with pencil to create more depth and detail. I chose to draw the houses as authentic representations of buildings during the time of Jesus. The dark blue sky symbolises the royalty of Mary, Joseph and Jesus. The peaceful town of Bethlehem stands eye-catching to capture the beauty of this special moment.
Mrs Charadia - Final Farewell
I will take this opportunity of creative license to say how much we look forward to celebrating Mrs Jen Charadia's significant contribution to Catholic Education and to our St Joseph's School community over the coming weeks. Jen is not one to bask in the spotlight, however, her dedication, commitment and contribution is something we would like to acknowledge and celebrate as a school community. As you know, parents and carers are invited to join us for a whole school Liturgy and morning tea. However, we understand many parents and carers are unable to attend due to work commitments. Please know a simple card or chat with Jen before the year ends would add to the love and gratitude we hope to shower upon her as she prepares to farewell St Joseph's.
For all things at St Joseph's, we give thanks.
Acting Assistant Principal

How does my child receive a Principal's Award?
Class teachers nominate students for Blue Merit Awards which are presented at the weekly assembly. When five Blue Merit Awards have been received, students send them to the school office to be recorded and are then eligible for a Principal’s Award. When students attain their 4th Principal Award, they are awarded a Principal’s Medallion at an assembly. End of Term awards can be included as part of the 5 awards.
Acknowledgement to Country
