Sports Fest, Freedom Fest

What a blast

Wellington Square Awash

Today, Wellington Square was awash with St George’s students – literally.

The morning began with SportsFest and a host of incredible water activities including water ballons, water pistols, a dunk tank and so much more. . .

And when SportsFest finished, the fun did not dry up!

In stepped our musicians and dancers including two guest artists for FreedomFest - a mini St George’s style music festival, like a little Big Day Out.

The fifth annual FreedomFest saw school rock bands, dance troops, soloists, Brasstermind (brass ensemble), Electrocity Ensemble and student bands perform across  three different stages. The two local muso headline acts were Ronan Dixon (amazing musician and former school captain) and DJ BenMac (one of Perth's top DJs stretching all the way back to the days of vinyl).

Music Coordinator Mr Michael Newton said the logistics involved in creating this event comprised “rehearsals, rehearsals, rehearsals, staging, fencing, marquees, event permits, temporary building permits, noise abatement plans, sound and audio, soundcheck and performance scheduling – and more’’

But it was so worth it – thank you to all who made the event come together to celebrate the splendid conclusion of 2023.
