I am bursting with pride at Gandhi House’s extraordinary three-year winning streak. Our House has not only excelled this year but has consistently showcased remarkable talent and unity, culminating in our third consecutive House Cup victory.
This year our commitment and teamwork were once again the driving forces behind our outstanding achievements. We demonstrated our athletic prowess and team spirit by securing first place in the Interhouse Swimming and Athletics Carnivals. Our artistic talents shone brightly as we triumphed in the Interhouse Theatre Challenge and Performing Arts Festival, adding to our impressive list of accolades.
The recent Term Four House Week was a crowning moment, with our House's exceptional participation and enthusiasm securing us equal first place. This victory reflected our unwavering dedication and the strong sense of community that defines us.
A special acknowledgment is due to Mandela House and Lincoln House for your commendable competition and the challenges you presented that further inspired us.
Being part of Gandhi House during this streak of victories has been an immense honour, both as a PCG tutor and this year as the Acting Head of House. Each member's contribution, staff and students alike, has been vital in building this legacy of excellence, including that of our new Head of House, Amy Perejmibida, who I am confident will continue to carry this proud tradition forward as we all aim for continued success in the years to come.
Go Gandhi!
Mr Alex Hanssen
Acting Head of Gandhi House
As we wrap up 2023, I cast my mind over all the events and the fantastic Lincoln students who participated and gave it their all. From Sync Swim to Performing Arts, Athletics and House Week, I would like to give my sincere thanks to all the Lincoln staff and students who have represented the House and embodied the Lincoln House spirit.
Last week we ran our final House Week competition for the year. I was great to see the turn out for Chess, with many students from all Houses participating.
As we look towards next year, I would like to encourage as many Lincoln students to challenge themselves to participate in as many events as possible (as well as to bring in any remaining House tokens you may find at home over the Christmas break to start the year strong!).
I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. I hope you have a lovely break in which you rest, relax and spend time with loved ones. I will see you all in 2024!
Mr Vincent Lim
Head of Lincoln House
2023 has been a great year for Lincoln. Under the amazing leadership of Sydnee and Lorena, our 2023 House Captains, we came out on top in the ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition and were very close to winning at the Interhouse Performing Arts Festival, as well as earning many House points throughout the year. As the incoming Captain, I would like thank all of Lincoln for having such a positive attitude and a smile.
2024 is Lincoln’s year, but it will take a whole team effort.
Have a wonderful summer holidays and a magical Christmas, coming back next year refreshed and ready to smash it!
Miss Sadie Tibittis
Lincoln House Captain
What an amazing year Mandela. I want to thank you for everything you have done in 2023. I have been so proud of how you have conducted yourselves, your engagement and your commitment to each other and your House. You have tried your best, had a go and it has shown. Thank you for all your support this year and for keeping Mandela the best. I look forward to doing this again with you next year and inching one place up to get the House Cup. We came second, which is better than last year. Thank you to Gandhi and Lincoln for the friendly competition and the fun, and well done for the win Gandhi. It was very close, and you kept us on our toes.
I would like to wish Mr Hardman all the best for his new adventure and chapter in his life in Esperance as Head of Boarding and Pastoral at the Anglican school there. Mr Hardman has been a loyal Mandelite since the beginning and played a huge part in shaping our House to what it is today. You will be missed greatly, thank you.
Wil Moesker, our House Captain, has written a few words for the House: "Our endeavours this year have been great, and will not go unappreciated, as they are a testament to what we stand for as a House. A House where we are able to encourage one another and achieve great success as a result. Viewing the cohort, I see a crowd of people eager to continue the betterment of the House. On behalf of everyone in the House, I cannot wait to witness and be a part of our performance next year, keep it up and well done. Have a great Christmas and Holidays everyone, see you in 2024.''
