Heads of Year
Years 7, 8, 9 and 10
And just like that the final week of the 2023 academic year is complete.
After two years of working with our energetic, friendly and talented Year 8 students, I am incredibly proud to hand them over to the Head of Year 9 and 10 for 2024. There has been significant academic and social progress made by each of these students across their time in Year 7 and 8, most of whom I first met as nervous Year 6s in November of 2021 when they arrived for their Year 7 Transition Days. They came from over 30 different primary schools and are now transitioning into Year 9 at St George’s as a cohesive and engaged group. They are supportive and inclusive of each other; they make the most of their opportunities and hold incredible leadership and academic potential. I will follow the rest of their journey as they move through to Year 12 graduation and look forward to seeing what they accomplish in the years to come.
I wish all our Year 7 and 8 students a well-deserved holiday break and I thank each family for the continued support I have received this year.
Merry Christmas.
Ms Taryn Sephton
Head of Year 7 & 8
As we conclude another academic year, I cannot help but reflect on the incredible journey we have had together in Year 9 and 10. It has been a year of growth, learning, and memorable experiences for our students, and I am filled with pride as I write this final newsletter for the year.
To our incredible Year 9 and 10 students, you have shown resilience, adaptability and a passion for knowledge throughout the year. Whether it was excelling in academics, participating in extracurricular activities, or demonstrating kindness and camaraderie, each one of you has made a significant impact on our school community.
Next year promises new challenges and opportunities. Our Year 9 students will move into the next phase of their high school journey, and our Year 10 students will continue to build on the foundations laid this year. I have no doubt that with the support of our dedicated teachers and the resilience of our students, the coming year will be filled with even greater achievements.
I wish each and every student a joyful holiday season. May it be a time of relaxation, reflection, and rejuvenation. Thank you for your ongoing support, and I look forward to seeing you all next year.
Mr Conrad Sloan
