Hello from PKW

Prep KW have had a very busy and fun start to Term 4. Here are some of the events we have participated in.

Pevan & Sarah

Last week all of the Prep students visited the Frankston Arts Centre to see Pevan & Sarah live on stage. We danced and sang our way through many of our favourite songs. We had lots of fun and they made us laugh a lot. We loved wearing our Pevan and Sarah crowns and were excited to post the letter we had written to them. Pevan & Sarah have a large range of songs for all our learning areas – especially English and Maths.

Tabloid Sports

Last Thursday the Prep students participated in Tabloid Sports. What a fun and exciting morning was had by all. We dressed up in our house colours and we cheered everyone on. Some of the activities we enjoyed were cornhole, basketball, soccer, vortex, gymnastics and the egg and spoon race. We also loved having the Grade 6 students helping us.

Assembly

Last Friday it was the Prep’s turn to host the Junior School Assembly in the LPAC. We sang one of our favourite Pevan and Sarah songs ‘It’s Ok to Make Mistakes’ and a song about the seasons. We had some great moves and showed how brave we can be when performing on the stage.

Literacy

A favourite story we have focussed on in Literacy this term is ‘The Gruffalo’. Prep KW enjoyed retelling the story to each other and acting it out with puppets.

In Writing we have been learning to write sentences that contain a who, what, when & where. We are enjoying being authors and illustrators who are writing our own story about a character who shows bravery.

Maths

Over the past few weeks we have been learning about sharing objects into equal groups. We have participated in lots of hands on activities using blocks and counters.

In Maths we have also been learning to recognise and make some 3D shapes. We can name a sphere, cylinder, cone & cube and can find examples of them in our school environment.
