Every Day Counts – The Importance of Consistent School Attendance

At Park Orchards Primary School, we believe that every school day matters. Regular attendance builds the foundation for lifelong learning and success, academically, socially, and emotionally. It’s not just about being at school; it’s about giving every student the best opportunity to learn and thrive.

🕒 Why Attendance Matters

  • In a typical school year, there are 192 days of face-to-face learning.
  • Missing just one day a fortnight equals four full weeks of lost learning per year.
  • Over a child’s schooling journey, this can significantly affect their progress and confidence.

💬 “Every day at school is another step toward success.”

💡 The Benefits of Regular Attendance

🎓 Staying Connected to Learning Students keep up with classroom discussions, group projects, and hands-on activities that can’t be easily replicated at home.

🤝 Building Friendships and Belonging Being at school every day helps children strengthen friendships and feel part of the class community.

🌱 Growing Confidence Consistency supports both learning and emotional wellbeing, helping children feel capable and motivated.

❤️ When Absences Are Unavoidable

We understand that sometimes children need to stay home due to illness or family emergencies. If absences are unavoidable, please communicate with us and if you need support with your child’s attendance, our wellbeing team is here to help.

🤗 Let’s Make Every Day Count

By promoting regular attendance, we’re helping students make the most of every opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.

If you have any concerns or would like advice on supporting consistent attendance, please contact Judi Debono or Connie Bullen.
