Green Thumb Gardening Program

Students in the Green Thumb Gardening Program are very excited to present to you a small project they have been busily working on. At the end of Term 3, students planned out and created a small video poem entry for the Healthy Soil competition.

The theme was: Its importance to our food and environment

Each student has played a part in the success of our Garden and were keen to showcase it.

Last week we found out we won 1st prize and received a $500 gift voucher to go towards future Gardening projects.

Well done Team Green Thumb!

A Day in the Life of Nala - Our Wellbeing Dog

Hi everyone! It’s me, Nala – your school wellbeing dog!

My day starts bright and early when I arrive at school with Chiara. I am then greeted by Aaron, his always happy to see me, and we usually get the sillies out with a quick play before the day begins.

Then we head into Central Plaza where I see all the happy faces (and some sleepy ones too!). My tail does a lot of wagging in the mornings because I’m so excited to say hello to everyone – while also helping some students into class who may have had a tricky start to their morning. 💛

Once the bell goes, my real work begins. Some days I visit classrooms and listen to students read, other days I sit quietly with someone who might be feeling a bit sad or worried. I don’t need to say much, just being there helps people feel calm and safe. That’s my special job.

I often walk around with the students who are part of the Animalia Program. They’re learning how to care for me and understand what a wellbeing dog needs to stay happy and healthy. They help with things like my walks, training, and making sure I have everything I need during the day. They’re doing such a great job! 🐾

At recess and lunch, I sometimes go for a walk or have a little rest in my bed. School days are busy! Later in the afternoon, I help with check-ins, visit different parts of the school, or just pop my head in to spread some smiles.

When the day is done, I head home, have dinner, and take a big nap (being a wellbeing dog is important work!).

Thanks for always giving me such kind smiles and gentle waves when you see me around the school. Remember – the best way to help me do my job is to:

🐾 Say hello to the person walking me

🐾 Don’t call my name

🐾 Don’t ask to pat me

Just a smile or a wave is paw-fect!

See you around the school,Nala 🐾
