10D – Final Work Experience Group for 2025
Our 10D Pathways class was the final group to head out on work experience for 2025, and they’ve wrapped up the program on a high note. Across a wide range of industries, from allied health, childcare and education to beauty, accounting, fitness, and retail.
They’ve returned with valuable insights and have reflected thoughtfully on their experiences, sharing highlights and challenges and a few even gaining some casual work. Whether working with children, supporting clients in recovery, sweeping, or getting creative in studios and salons, every student made the most of their week.
A big shoutout to all the local businesses and organisations who welcomed our students and made this year’s work experience and Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) program such a success! During 10D’s week, we had four new businesses jump on board, and one lucky student even spent their placement with the Adelaide Football Club!
Across the year, we’ve supported around 115 Work Experience opportunities, 90 Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) opportunities, and 10 students have been undertaking School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBAT). It’s been a fantastic year of growth and hands-on learning for our students.
10D Reflections
Alahani – Seed Ability
Hi, I’m Alahani and I spent my work experience week with the amazing team at Seed Ability. Everyone was so kind and welcoming, and I’m thankful for the opportunity.
I got to explore different areas of allied health, including Speech Pathology, Physiotherapy, and Occupational Therapy, all focused on paediatrics. I especially loved working with kids on their emotional development and school readiness. One of the highlights was visiting schools and childcares, helping children with writing and learning to manage their emotions.
This experience really helped me realise that I’d love to pursue a career in either Occupational Therapy or Speech Pathology. A huge thank you to the team at Seed Ability for making it such a great week!

Sunny & Carly – Movement Training
Hi, we’re Sunny and Carly, and we did our work experience with Milly Op’t Hoog at Movement Training.
Throughout the week, we joined Milly on home visits and gym sessions at Specialised Performance and Recovery and the Leisure Centre. We got to work with clients recovering from injuries, surgeries, or managing chronic illnesses, and helped out with exercises to support their recovery.
Carly: I learnt a lot about chronic illnesses and how they affect people’s lives. It was really interesting to see how exercise plays a big role in recovery, especially after things like knee replacements.
Sunny: I loved seeing how each client’s gym plan was tailored to them. It was great to be involved in the sessions and learn how Milly tracks progress using different apps. I really enjoyed getting to know the clients and seeing how far they’ve come.
Thanks so much to Milly for giving us such a great experience, we really enjoyed it!

Tammie – Good Start Early Learning
At Good start Early Learning, I learned how to take care of children, how to play with them and how to make them feel happy. I also learned how to everyone works together and staff pay attention to the time when you need to apply sunscreen to children. Specially, I really enjoyed playing with the children, playing with sand, toys with them, reminding them to apply sunscreen, helping them have morning tea and talking to them about what do they want to do in the future. For me, that is really good work experience. Thanks to that, I learned a lot about childcare.
Finally, I want to send thanks to staff in ‘Good Start Early Learning’ and the children there. I especially want to send thanks to Ms. Crish and Ms. Wendy because they helped me with a lot of things. Thank you to Mrs. Bird and Mrs. Anna who helped me get this work experience.

Holly - On Point Beauty
Hi, my names Holly and I completed work experience at On Point Beauty Bar in Swan Hill from the 14th to the 18th of October.
On my work experience I spent the week with Maddy Gleeson who welcomed me into her beauty salon with open arms as well as all her clients. At the moment I am completing a my Certificate III in Beauty at Murray Ace because of this it allowed me to be more confident with having my own clients for the few days I spent with Maddy.
While I didn't have clients I got to build of my own skills by watching Maddy do some treatments to clients.
I want to thank Maddy for a great week and for letting me do work experience with her as it very much helped me and my skills in beauty.

Charlie - Academy Graphics
I’m Charlie from Year 10, and I went to Academy Graphics for Work Experience.
I primarily worked on tasks related to graphic design. I started with a practice design brief where I had to create a logo for a business and other formats for them. After that, I helped do numerous jobs in the workshop including boxing up products and printing/ ironing on signage.
I would like to give a huge thanks to Matt and the team for letting me stay for the week. It was a great opportunity, and I enjoyed my time there.

Charli - Adelaide Crows Football Club
Hello, my name is Charli, and I was lucky enough to do my work experience with the Adelaide Crows Football Club. While I was there, I was working with the High-Performance Staff in the strength and conditioning field. I really enjoyed this experience, and I learned so much. I especially enjoyed meeting the AFLW team and watching them in their work environment. Being able to see the expectations and commitment required to be such a high-level athlete was really interesting, and I am so grateful for this
incredible opportunity. During my time there, I helped set up gym equipment, used GPS trackers to monitor the players and was really taking in the whole AFLW experience. This is definitely something I would like to pursue in the future, either as a professional athlete or a job in the sports science industry. I would like to thank Adam Kelly and Jordan Sellar for having me and making my week one I will never forget.

Catherine – Woorinen Primary School & The Dandy Lion Studio
Hi, I’m Catherine and I had the opportunity to spend my work experience week at Woorinen Primary School and The Dandy Lion Studio.
For the first two days, I returned to my old primary school, working with the Grade 4–5 and 5–6 classes. It was a nostalgic experience, especially getting to work alongside my former teachers, Mrs King and Mrs Annett. I helped with reading, maths, humanities, and PE, and really enjoyed reconnecting with the staff and students.
For the rest of the week, I was at The Dandy Lion Studio with Nina. I helped take down old displays, did some retail work and stocktake, and painted decorations for the upcoming Christmas display. It was a fun and creative few days, and I’m grateful for the chance to return and help out again in the future.

Izzie – St Mary’s Primary School
Hi, I’m Izzie and I did my work experience at St Mary’s Primary School from the 13th to the 17th of October. I got to work across lots of different classrooms from Foundation to Year 5 and helped out with reading, writing, maths, PE, Italian, and Art. Every day was different, and I loved getting to know the students and staff. I felt really welcomed, especially by Mrs Hanns and Mr Doran who checked in with me each morning. It was such a great experience, and I’d love to go back before the term ends!
