Música y Artes Performaticas

A Term Full of Music, Movement & Creativity!
As we wrap up the term, it’s been absolutely heartwarming to see the joy, creativity, and teamwork that our students have brought into their Music and Performing Arts lessons. Across all year levels, from our curious Foundation students to our confident Year 6 leaders, children have been singing, dancing, playing instruments, and performing with growing confidence and enthusiasm. Whether it’s learning a new chord on the ukulele, acting out imaginative scenes, or moving in time to the beat, every student has had the opportunity to express themselves, try something new, and shine in their own way. Here’s a snapshot of what each year level has been up to!
Foundation and Year 1/2
Students in Foundation and Year 1/2 have been diving deeper into the world of xylophones, exploring new songs that help them recognise the difference between high and low sounds depending on the notes they play. They’ve also been learning to sing along to the choruses, improving their musical listening and vocal expression.
In the performing arts, they’ve shone with creativity, participating in performative games in which they imagine characters and act out short scenes for their classmates to guess. These fun and social activities help develop confidence, teamwork, and creative thinking. They’ve also continued to grow as dancers, becoming more aware of how to move their bodies to the beat, express themselves, and enjoy the rhythm of music.
Year 3/4
Our Year 3/4 students ended the term with a bang by proudly contributing to the choreography and drum rhythms of the song 'Stand Up, Be Loud, Speak Now'. By the way, it's a song sung by students from this school —how awesome is that! Also, they had an amazing time dancing with their peers and performing it for the whole class—a moment of pride and celebration!
Musically, they’ve been developing their ukulele skills, learning different strumming patterns and playing chords C, Am, and F, which allowed them to begin exploring iconic songs like Somewhere Over the Rainbow and Stand by Me. Their enthusiasm and progress have been impressive!
Year 5/6
Our Year 5/6 students have been applying all the musical knowledge they’ve gained over the years with confidence and skill. They’ve been learning the popular song Riptide on the ukulele, using more advanced chords and practising both their instrumental and vocal abilities. It’s been wonderful to hear their voices come together in harmony as they sing and strum along.
In performing arts, they participated in a variety of performance-based activities, where they practised teamwork, stage presence, and improvisation, acting out spontaneous topics while developing their creativity and collaboration.
As a special project, the Year 6 students have also been preparing a dance to the song “Waka Waka” and assembling a live percussion show called “Zazu.” This exciting showcase features African shakers, marimbas, drums, and the sweet sound of the xylophone, a rich and rhythmic performance that will be presented at Graduation Day to celebrate the end of their primary school journey.
