Preps
Our Foundation students have had an exciting start to the term in Health and PE as they explored ¡Lanzar y atrapar! Through lots of fun and active games, they have been learning how to throw and catch with confidence. Students began by practising with large soft balls, keeping their eyes on the ball and using two hands to catch safely. They then learned the underarm throw, focusing on stepping forward and aiming for their target. Games like “ball tiggy” have helped them develop coordination and teamwork. They have also been discovering how their bodies change during exercise and why being active makes us feel healthy, happy and full of energy.

Year 1/2
It has been a fantastic term so far for our Year 1/2 students, who have been working on their object control skills in our unit Patear y control de objetos. They have been learning how to kick safely and accurately, practising how to aim for targets and control the force of their kicks. The students have also been throwing, catching and kicking in fun group games and relays that build teamwork and cooperation. Last week, they were thrilled to take part in an AFL clinic with a visiting coach who taught them some awesome footy skills like handballing, punting and catching. The session was full of excitement and energy and gave everyone a big boost in confidence.

Year 3/4
Our Year 3/4 students have loved learning all about softball this term. They have been lucky to work with our visiting coach, Mel, who has shared her amazing knowledge and enthusiasm for the sport. Mel has been teaching students how to bat, throw, catch and field safely while focusing on teamwork and fair play. Each lesson has been full of activity, laughter and new challenges. The program has given students a great introduction to softball and, for our Year 4s, a head start for when they get to play the sport in the interschool competition in Year 5 and 6.

Year 5/6
This term, our Year 5/6 students have been learning and playing through invasion games, focusing on both AFL and football. They started by developing their AFL skills, practising accurate drop punts, leading into space and defending fairly. The students then switched to football, where they have been working on their passing, dribbling and teamwork. In the last two weeks, we’ve been very lucky to have special visits from an AFL coach and a coach from Melbourne Victory. Both ran exciting and energetic sessions that helped students improve their technique, learn new strategies and experience what it’s like to train with professionals. The students showed great enthusiasm, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout, making it a highlight of the term.
