Litter Legends!

I'd like to do a huge shout out to our year 4 students Reyaan, Leyla, and Charlotte who have shown an enormous amount of dedication and leadership this year.

Last year in Community Inquiry, they developed the Litter Picker initiative to tackle the issue of litter in our school - one of the top issues identified by last year's 3/4s that they said was impacting both their own wellbeing (not nice walking around their own school seeing litter everywhere) and the health of the environment.

Every fortnight, Charlotte, Leyla, and Reyaan have spent one full recess with me judging each area of the school to see which area is the most litter-free. Each double class is in charge of a certain area in the school and need to use their Litter Picker kits to keep it clean.

The winners each fortnight are announced in assembly and get points! If there are any worthy runners up, they get points too.

These points are added together with points from Nude Food, and at the end of the term, the class with the most points will be awarded a delicious plastic-free morning tea!

How can you help?

If possible, help your child to prepare a Nude Food lunch each Tuesday. Nude Food means that nothing is thrown in landfill. Paper bags and reusable containers (plastic, metal or otherwise) are best.

If you need a reusable plastic containers, I have some brand new ones that were donated by Woolworths and these can be handed out - just ask your child's classroom teacher.

Also, if you're hanging around after school chatting, perhaps you and your child could grab the Litter Picker kit from the classroom to pick up litter!

How cool are the t-shirts?

Very cool! Reyaan and mum Sarah worked together to create the design and print it on t-shirts for these awesome student leaders. Super special!

Thanks community!
