Principal Report

Dear families,
I hope this edition finds you all well. We are quickly moving towards the holidays. Before that happens, we have a number of events and community gatherings to close out our year.
Last Friday, you received your child's final portfolio with the learning tasks completed across the year. This is a huge achievement for our students, and I am confident you will see the improvements they have achieved when looking through their tasks. The individual's term 4 grades can be found on Compass.
The end-of-year reports will collate the tasks and take into account all of their growth across the semester. You can expect to receive the final reports in the last week of the term.
On Tuesday, 2nd December, we will host Christmas Carols (Quad) and our annual art show (Gym). Jasmine has been busy collating the students' work. The class teachers have picked their class carol. The event will also be supported by the P&F, who have organised food options, including a sausage sizzle by the local CFA.
Thank you to the P&F for an outstanding Colour Run, supported by over 40 volunteers. To show our appreciation, all semester 2 volunteers are invited to a morning tea on Wednesday, 3rd December.
In the background, teachers have been working together to create 2026 class lists. The lists have taken into account what parents have shared, what we know as teachers, and what individual students' needs are, to best balance a class around gender, abilities, and behaviors. Class lists will be ready to be shared with families on Friday, 6th December. Some students will also have a social story to help explain the transition changes in a format that they have accessed before.
On Tuesday, 9th December, we will hold a transition morning for all students, including new preps, from 9am to 12pm.
In the lead up to this, we have been offering a weekly guest lunch with teachers from future classes attending a lunchtime to meet and greet potential new students. These happen on Wednesdays.
Next week, a transition letter will be collated from the information you shared in the recent Getting To Know You surveys and passed onto the new teachers. This will allow teachers to get to know your child before the transition day.
On Tuesday, 9th December, from 1:00pm and after school on Thursday, 11th December, there will be an opportunity for you to meet your child's new teacher via a 10-minute Zoom appointment. On Friday, 6th December, a booking form will be sent home. You will know your child's new teacher, class friends, and be able to book a 10-minute appointment.
As well as the transition day, there will also be an activity week. This is a celebration of the end of the year and will be a mix of excursions, incursions, and school activities. Further OHS and risk information will be shared this week with the community for Luna Park and Rainbow Town. One query that has been asked a number of times regarding Luna Park is whether the park is open to the public. The park has been privately booked that day for primary school children. On Wednesday, 10th December, there will be a curriculum day, with the focus on the department's new reading position for teachers. Students will not be at school that day. Please contact the OSHC team if you require a spot in their program.
In week 11, grade 6 students will celebrate the end of their primary school days with their graduation on Tuesday, 16th December. The students will have a soft start to the day with classes beginning at 11:20am. Their teachers will not be arriving until recess. Students are able to take the morning as well, although if you need your child to attend school, we will be able to cater to them through other members of our team. At the end of the week we will host a farewell assembly and there will be an earlier end of the year finish for students.
We hope you have a wonderful last month and wish you all the best for the final sprint to Christmas.
Best,
Craig
