From the Principal

I hope that you have had a fantastic year at Northcote High School. Looking back through the newsletters of 2025, it’s clear just how vibrant and enriching the year has been. Our Ripples Magazine has now been finalised and sent to print. This year’s edition is exceptional, with a superb cover and capturing the many stories, projects and highlights that marked 2025.
From interstate and international camps and tours to our House events, sporting achievements, public performances, cultural celebrations, student-led initiatives, fund-raising and community activities, our school has been full of activities and opportunities.
It has been a pleasure to see so many students step forward, connect with one another and enjoy the experiences available to them.
Our VCE Orientation Program ran last week, providing our Senior Students with important preparations for the year ahead. We hope they return in 2026 rested and ready for the challenges and opportunities that come with their senior studies.
Staff are currently finalising assessments and preparing reports to be shared with families. We have shared with you the program for end-of-year activities that are designed to extend their learning beyond the classroom.
Excitement is also building as we prepare to welcome our incoming Year 7 students for 2026. Their Orientation Day earlier this week, created a warm and positive introduction to life at Northcote High. Thank you to the Junior School team for the guidance and support that they provide.
Our Art and Design Shows once again showcased remarkable creativity and technical skill. The exhibitions were a true celebration of our students’ talent thoughtfully curated, high-quality work, and live performances from one of our student bands adding to the energy of the evenings. Thank you to our Art and Design staff for bringing these events together so beautifully.
We look forward to sharing our Year 12 results with students and families this week. We wish our graduates every success and look forward to celebrating their achievements as they take the next steps in their journeys beyond school.
To support students and families in preparing for the return to school, we will publish our Return to School edition of the newsletter before the school year begins. Staff will participate in Professional Learning on Tuesday 27 January and Wednesday 28 January before all students return on Thursday 29 January.
As we look toward 2026, our Centenary Year, we will have a number of events for students, families and alumni to participate in. We do so with pride, gratitude and excitement.
I wish every member of our school community a restful, safe and joyful holiday season. May the break bring renewed energy for another successful and inspiring year ahead.
Chris Jones
