2026 Uniform Expectation

· Northcote High School’s uniform was designed with and by students, parents and teachers.

· Our uniform communicates a belonging to and sense of pride in the school community.

· Students are expected to wear full uniform each day, on excursions, at school events and when representing the school (unless otherwise specified).

· Northcote High School has an ungendered uniform.

· Having a visible logo on the torso enables staff to immediately recognize any student from a member of the public, enabling staff to complete duty of care.

General Uniform Policy:

· Students can wear any combination of the academic and sport uniform items

· Students must wear an academic top or sports top at all times (unless they are wearing a dress). Please note: When wearing a vest, students must also be wearing a dress, sports top or academic shirt.

· On the days students have Sport, Physical Education or Interschool Sport they are required to wear Full Sports Uniform.

· Year 12 students are permitted to wear the Year 12 School Hoodie. No other hoodies are permitted.

· Wearing of the school hat or cap when outdoors is strongly encouraged

OHS and Presentability:

· All items of uniform are to be worn clean and in good condition at all times

· Hairstyles and colour, hair accessories, jewellery, facial piercings, ear sleepers / studs, cosmetics/make-up should be neat and meet relevant class safety requirements

Wet Weather Policy:

· We recommend students bring an umbrella on days in which there is rain forecasted

Out of Uniform Policy:

· If there is a legitimate reason that a student is out of uniform, they should bring a note from their parent/guardian and obtain a Uniform Pass from their Sub-School before the start of the day

· Students out of uniform will be asked to remove the non-uniform item wherever practicable, and may be provided with a substitute loan item for the day. The non-uniform item may be confiscated and kept in the relevant sub-school until the end of the day.

· Consequences such as Community Service may apply for students out of uniform without a Uniform Pass. Please refer to the staged process below.

Purchasing Uniform:

· Uniform can be purchased from Noone Imagewear stores on campus, offsite (East Ivanhoe) and online.

· If you are experiencing financial difficulties and require assistance to purchase the uniform, please contact the School Office who can put you in touch with our Student Services team.

Bags

· Use of the school backpack is strongly encouraged

· School backpacks are to be kept in student lockers during the day

· Laptop cases should fit inside the school backpack
