Year 7 2026 Orientation

On Tuesday 9 December, we were delighted to welcome our incoming Year 7 2026 cohort for their Transition Day. The morning began in the Hall with a beautiful musical performance from our Novice Strings. Our Principal Chris Jones shared some welcoming words, followed by introductions from our Year 12 Captains, the Head of Middle School and other staff who play a key role in supporting students as they begin their secondary school journey.
One of the most anticipated moments came when students discovered their Connect Groups for next year, an announcement met with plenty of cheers, smiles and energy.
Students then spent the day getting to know one another, participating in sample lessons, touring parts of the school and having their school photos taken. For many, a highlight was their first ever visit to the canteen for lunch!
The day concluded with group reflections, key information about their first day of school in 2026. There were many happy and relieved faces from both students and parents as the day wrapped up, signalling a smooth and positive start to their high school journey.
A huge thank you goes to all our teachers and staff for supporting such a successful and welcoming transition event. Most importantly, we extend our appreciation to our new Year 7s, who embraced the experience with enthusiasm and demonstrated many of our school values, particularly humanity and curiosity throughout the day. We look forward to seeing them again in 2026 as they begin their exciting adventure at Northcote High School.
