"BOOK AN ADVENTURE"
Book Week 2025
"The library is not just full of books, but also opportunities."
Abbey 2016
Recently classes have been on a visit to the Town Library which is part of the Central Northern Regional Libraries. Kinder - Yr 2 classes were treated to a picture book which we do not have in our library, so that was a treat. Students were also given time to browse the picture book section, share a story with a friend and ask Amy interesting questions. In addition the art gallery was part of the visit.
Students in Yr 4 and 5 participated in a scavenger hunt whereby they had to locate various areas in the library, offering them the opportunity to search out all the library had on offer. Of particular interest were the graphic novels and the STEM robotic and coding kits available to borrow. Students were also given the opportunity to borrow if they had a library card or had recently joined the library.
Again the art gallery was of particular interest especially the "back room" housing the Ahn Do creation on Archie Roach.
If you would like your child to become a member of the library go to http://www.cnl.nsw.gov.au click on 'Register' in the top right hand corner and follow the instructions. After submitting you will receive a code which the student may bring to school for me to forward to the library for processing to receive the physical borrowing card.

Certificates will be ready for issue in a few weeks time. Meanwhile students who successfully completed the Challenge will enjoy a congratulatory ice cold zooper dooper over the coming days.

This year 440,757 students participated and 336,347 successfully completed the Challenge, with numbers still growing as we finalise late entries. Thank you for inspiring your students to develop a lifelong love of reading. Coordinators like you are what make the PRC such a successful program!
Thankyou also to the parents for your support of your child's reading journey.
The competition has begun in earnest. It's wonderful to see the intense concentration which some students thrive on, while others prefer to have an audience of friends for support. All are catered for according to student wishes.
Thankyou players for showing respect to you fellow players by shaking hands at the end of the game, win lose or stalemate.
Goodluck to all players.
Every Friday we pack up the technology and enjoy chatting to each other, reading, playing games, colouring in and jigsaws. Does anyone have any jigsaws they would like to donate to the library please?
Please note a LIBRARY BAG is the first item on your child's equipment list for the year.
Thank you for ensuring your child has a library bag. I have some spares and will issue these to students next week who have not yet presented with a bag.
LIBRARY BAGS MATTER... Not just some of the time but all of the time.

No food or drink on my books.
Food and drink are for the chooks.
Library bags keep ‘em clean.
Books are cool don’t treat ‘em mean.
Bring your bag every time.
Fill it up and get in line.
Have it scanned and scoot on out.
LIBRARY BAGS
We all shout.

When students visit the library a huge emphasis is placed on the
premise that they have
C H O I C E
in what they can read and borrow.
Ask your child about the bookmark which provides home access for World eBooks and World Book online.
If you have not logged on and had a browse around, sit down with your child and ask them about it. I'm sure all primary-aged students will be able to show you some of the features.
