Arts and LOTE

It's been a fun-filled year for the arts, between hosting our first musical, awesome workshops, seeing amazing student results at the ENERGY exhibition, and students performing right up until the final day of school, it is amazing to see so many strands of art embedded into our school culture.
This term, our Innovation Centre was buzzing with energy as students and staff took part in a hands-on silversmithing workshop facilitated by one of our visual art teachers, Mrs Durrand. The session was led by local artist Isabelle Hesketh, who brought a mix of skill, patience, and genuine passion for the craft. Our art teachers were also able to get involved, adding to the fun and creative atmosphere.
Students learned the basics of working with silver, explored new tools, and experimented with shaping and polishing their own pieces. The best part was watching their confidence grow as their ideas slowly turned into something real they could hold in their hands.
At the end of Term 3, we saw great success at the ENERGY exhibition, with Abigail Beckwith, Charlotte Agnew, and Henry Brammer all taking out a prize. Further to this incredible achievement, Abigail went on to be accepted into the prestigious Flame Arts Program, and Charlotte’s artwork (The Vibrance Within) was selected as the cover artwork for the exhibition program! Amazing work from these students and their teachers!
To wrap up the term, our music students and Cultural Captains will be hosting a Carols by Candlelight event on Wednesday of the final week of school (which will probably have happened by the time you get to read this). This will be the first time hosting this event, and we hope that you enjoyed what it brought to our school’s festivities.
Have a Merry Christmas, a safe holiday, and may God bless you all in the New Year.
Kind regards,
Mr Tyson Manley | Middle Leader Arts and LOTE
