           Secondary 7/8

7/8A

Secondary 7/8A has had a very successful Term 4.

Students began the term with swimming week, where many students enjoyed being in the water and were super responsible looking after their swimming bags.

Students enjoyed connecting with the Watsonia campus by attending the book fair. Throughout this term students have explored “Caring for our Earth and its Animals”, where we learnt about how to be sustainable and care for the planet. We have planted trees, upcycled material, composted and recycled.

In Literacy, we have been practicing sorting and labelling words and using these words to write about this topic. Additionally, we have been learning to use and comprehend who, what doing, what, what like and where words. In Numeracy, we have been working on place value and data. We have built and expanded numbers, collected data and answered questions.

7/8B

Term 4 has been a busy and exciting finish to the year for Secondary 7/8B.

Our Literacy learning focused on sustainability, where students explored topics such as recycling, composting and reducing waste. They created a classroom compost bin, sorted rubbish, emptied our recycling into the school skip and even made reusable cloth napkins from old Spectacular costumes. We also enjoyed making bubbles as part of our language experience and discussing how small actions can help the environment.

In Maths, students completed their learning about Place Value before moving into our Data and Statistics unit. They learnt how to collect, sort and represent data using tally marks, tables and simple graphs, and showed great improvement in explaining what their data means.

The term also included some lovely highlights, including challenge, Lower Primary Book Fair and lots of hands-on sustainability projects. The term was filled with meaningful learning experiences and 7/8B should be proud of everything they accomplished together.

7/8C

Term 4 has been full of great learning experiences for Secondary 78C. We started off with a one-week swimming intensive, which was enjoyed by all.

Discovery has been all about caring for our environment, so our Language Experiences have taken us from recycling, to composting, to upcycling to planting trees. We have been very ‘hands on’ and I can see the class has developed some positive habits in regard to managing waste.

In Mathematics, we completed the topic of Number and learnt about data collection and interpretation through conducting surveys. The class of 78C wish the Concord community a safe and wonderful summer break.

7/8D

Term 4 has been an eventful time for Secondary 78D.

We began our discovery topic of sustainability, learning about composting, recycling, reusing, and upcycling. Students have enjoyed making grass heads, planting a tree, and turning old spectacular costumes into reusable napkins. We’ve learned about the different types of pollution and the effects of pollution on animals and the environment.

Transition has started and we are saying goodbye to our year 8’s moving up to the 9/10 section next year. We will miss them, but we are also looking forward to the new friends awaiting us in the new year. While our Year 8s have celebrated reuniting with old friends from last year, our Year 7s have been showing leadership skills, supporting the grade 6s who are moving into our section next year.

I am so proud of the growth our class has achieved this term. Not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well.

Well done 78D.

7/8E

Term 4 was filled with so many fun activities. We jumped into the topic of sustainability this term, which included sorting rubbish into compostable or recyclable materials, making reusable cleaning cloths and planting tree saplings.

The students thoroughly enjoyed our Term 4 activities such as a visit to the MILE room, transition sessions and our end of year celebration at Binnak Park! A highlight was our Community Concert, where the cohort performed their finale dance from Rock N Roll All Night!

We unfortunately said goodbye to James, our amazing ES! Thankfully we have finished the year with the wonderful Maddy, which has been slightly confusing with two of us in the room!

2025 has been a great year. It has been wonderful to see all of the growth throughout each term, and it has been a pleasure to teach this group of students.

Have a safe and happy holiday break!

Madeleine

7/8F

It’s hard to believe we’ve made it to the final term of the year! We’ve been consolidating our learning about animal habitats and investigating how our actions impact our environment. We’ve sorted recycling, started composting, made plans to reduce the amount of rubbish in our lunchboxes and upcycled old spectacular costumes. We’ve learnt about different types of pollution and their effect on animals. Highlights involved blowing bubbles instead of balloons outside and planting our own trees.

Transition has begun and our Year 8 students have had a glimpse into what it will be like to move up into the 9/10 building. They’ve been excited about new spaces, reuniting with friends from last year and choosing electives. Our Year 7 students have been demonstrating some leadership skills, welcoming Year 6 students into our section and helping them get ready for the big jump to high school.

Term 4 is a celebration of all our achievements across the year and we’re so proud of Secondary 7/8F!

7/8G

Secondary 7/8G have had an amazing term 4 and an awesome year of learning but as the saying goes, “All good things must come to an end.” The end of our time together as Secondary 7/8G is fast approaching. This means it is time to reflect on all the amazing experiences we have had together this term. We have been curious and engaged with the Discovery Unit, investigating recycling, reusing, composting and campaigning to make a difference in the environment through Language Experiences, reading, writing, technology and excursions. We made ‘Hairy Heads’, investigated our lunchboxes for reusable containers, collected compost, reused Spectacular costumes and designed posters.

We are looking forward to; Williamstown Beach with 78H, Binak Park for a section excursion, our Class KFC Party, movie day and a final visit to the Discovery Centre. We will miss our Year 8 friends when they move on next year but know that we will all make new friendships in 2026.

Congratulations to Harrison, who received the 7/8 Citizenship award.

A big thankyou to our Educational Support Trainee, Kirra, we enjoyed having you work with us and support our learning. Have a fabulous holiday!

7/8H

Thank you Secondary 78H for a wonderful Term 4.

This term we focused on environmental sustainability and learned that the small actions we make today can have a big impact on the future of the planet. The class learned how to effectively manage our waste, with practices such as upcycling, composting and sorting the recycling. The class identified that the environment is something we need to look after so all living things can experience a happier life.

Hope everyone has a great break over the holidays.
