VET and Careers

VET out and about
We have hit the ground running for Term Four, finalising Year 12 results, with some of our Year 11s who have already finished their qualifications commencing their Certificate IV courses early, and some of our Year 10s are out on work placement to gain a taste of various industries.
Year 9 Try a Trade
On Wednesday, 15 October some of our Year 9 students had the opportunity to attend a three-day Try a Trade Carpentry course at South Metro TAFE, gaining valuable industry experience. This hands-on opportunity allowed them to interact with professionals in the field, observe daily operations, and put some of the skills they learnt into practice, making their own toolboxes, which they got to keep. This hands-on experience was both engaging and educational, sparking students' curiosity and enthusiasm.
We look forward to more exciting opportunities like this to inspire our young learners.
Year 10 Career Persona Quiz
In Week One of this term, representatives from ECU’s Future Students Engagement Team visited our Year 10 students during Seminar as part of their outreach initiative to support career exploration and university readiness. During their presentation, they introduced ECU’s Career Finder Quiz, a 5-minute interactive tool designed to help students identify their career persona and explore aligned university courses.
The session included a walkthrough of the quiz, followed by a discussion on how different personas connect with ECU’s study areas and career pathways.
Students were encouraged to reflect on their strengths, interests, and aspirations, with ECU staff providing insights into course options, admission pathways, and scholarship opportunities.
