Room 2 – Learning Update

It’s been a short couple of weeks at school with the long weekend, swimming lessons and our art incursions, but goodness me, what fabulous learning has taken place outside the classroom! Even though we haven’t had as much time in our usual day-to-day routines, the learning that’s happened in the pool, in the art room and out in the community has been rich, hands-on and full of excitement.

Swimming

It was absolutely wonderful to see the growing confidence in and around the water during our swimming program. Room 2 students showed bravery, determination and joy as they learned new skills and pushed themselves just a little further each day. We are so proud of their effort and the way they supported one another.

Artist in Residence

We also loved seeing the high level of engagement with Craig, our Artist in Residence. The children were fully immersed in exploring new techniques, expressing their creativity and learning about the artistic process. Their curiosity and willingness to try new things was shining brightly.

Literacy

As we head into our final six weeks of the school year, we’re making the most of every moment in the classroom. We’ve begun our end-of-year assessments, which help us reflect on how far we’ve come since the start of the year. It’s a wonderful chance to look back, notice the progress and celebrate the hard work and growth each student has achieved.

In Writing, students have been learning how authors group information together to help readers understand facts more clearly. This understanding is now helping us begin to produce our own informative text pieces. Students have explored headings, fact sentences, topic sentences and the structure of information reports—and now they’re putting all that knowledge into practice. It’s been so exciting to see their confidence grow as young authors.

SWPBS - School Wide Positive Behaviour

In SWPBS, students have continued to make their voices heard. Over the past two weeks we have shared ideas and feedback on our new behaviour matrix, contributing suggestions and discussing what each expectation looks like in action. This week, we also explored our school reward systems, giving students the opportunity to share how they like to be acknowledged for their hard work, kindness and effort. Their input is helping us build a system that truly reflects our values and celebrates positive behaviour in meaningful ways.

As always, we are incredibly proud of Room 2’s enthusiasm, resilience and curiosity. Even with a busy schedule, they continue to shine.
