From the School Leadership Team

Connected Schools Athletics Carnival
What a wonderful display of sportsmanship and community spirit we witnessed at the Connected Schools Athletics Carnival! Our students represented our school with pride, participating alongside their peers from Endeavour College, Good Shepherd, and St Paul. It was heartening to see our children embrace the true spirit of community, cheering for one another and celebrating achievements across each of our schools. Events like these remind us of the strength we find in our connected learning community.
Foundation Concert Excursion
Our Foundation students had an absolute treat this week, attending the Pevan and Sarah concert. The joy and excitement on their faces was a delight! Thank you to our staff team who organised and accompanied our youngest learners on this wonderful musical adventure.
P & F Picnic Afternoon
Thank you to all of our families who joined us for the P & F Picnic Afternoon last Sunday. We appreciate the efforts of our Parents and Friends Committee and Mrs Hall (née Neumann) in arranging this wonderful community event. It was lovely to see families enjoying catching up over cheese and wine, while the children (and some adults!) enjoyed games of cricket and basketball. These gatherings are such a special part of our school community.
Middle of Term Breakfast
A huge thank you to our Parents and Friends Committee for organising a spectacular Middle of Term Breakfast! The bacon and egg rolls were absolutely delicious and brought our community together in the best possible way. It's these special moments – staff, students, and parents sharing a meal before school – that strengthen the bonds within our school family. We're grateful to everyone who contributed to making this morning so memorable.
Remembrance Day Commemoration
On Tuesday, 11 November at 11:00am, our school community paused to commemorate Remembrance Day. This year holds particular significance as we mark 80 years since the end of World War II and 50 years since the end of the Vietnam War. We were honoured to have Sergeant Elizabeth Mills join us to deliver our Remembrance Day address. Thank you, Sergeant Mills, for giving your time and sharing such a meaningful message with our students about the importance of remembrance and gratitude.
Important Reminders
Pupil Free Day – This Friday A reminder that this Friday is a pupil free day for professional learning. Our staff team will be focusing on enhancing our use of Toddle as a digital portfolio, where we can better showcase the learning and achievements of our students. GGOSH will be open to provide care on the day – please ensure you book in advance if you require care.
Foundation Information Evening –
Monday 17 November
All of our new Foundation 2026 families are warmly invited to attend our Foundation Information Evening next Monday, along with our mid-year 2025 Foundation families. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet teachers, learn about our Foundation program, and ask any questions you may have.
Foundation Transition Sessions
Following the Information Evening, we have three transition sessions scheduled for our incoming Foundation students on the mornings of:
- Monday, 24 November
- Monday, 1 December
- Monday, 8 December
These sessions help our youngest learners become familiar with their new classroom environment and begin building relationships with their teachers and peers.
Community Events
Mark your calendars for these special occasions:
- Christmas Carols Concert – Join us for a joyful celebration of the birth of Jesus with carols and performances
- Thanksgiving/Closing Service – an opportunity to give thanks for our blessings and achievements this year and to recognise and honour the contribution of a number of our students, staff and families.
Term 4 truly is a celebration of everything that makes our school community special. We look forward to seeing you at these events and finishing the year on a high note together!
Class Carer Gift Collection
Each year, our wonderful Class Carers co-ordinate a small gift for each staff member on behalf of all families. This arrangement helps ease any pressure families might feel about giving an individual gift to their child's class teacher, while also seeking to reduce the financial burden that can come with the busy Christmas period when many families are managing additional expenses. Our class carers also ensure that all our valued staff members are acknowledged—including those who work behind the scenes such as our office staff and teacher aides. If you would like to make a voluntary contribution toward this year's staff gift, you can do so conveniently through Qkr! We appreciate your consideration, though please know that participation is entirely optional.
STEM and Music Classroom Upgrades
You may have noticed some construction work taking place around our STEM and Music classroom block adjacent to the main courtyard. We are currently undertaking some important remediation work to address moisture issues that developed over time.
The original pavers and fill underneath were installed too high against the building slab, which unfortunately caused moisture problems. Our current work involves drying out the slab completely, carrying out any necessary internal remediation in both classroom spaces, and then reinstalling the pavers at the correct lower level. This will prevent the same issue from occurring in the future and ensure these valuable learning spaces remain in excellent condition for our students.
We appreciate your patience during this improvement work and look forward to having these spaces fully operational again soon.
Volunteering in the School
We appreciate many families giving of their time and expertise to volunteer in the school, whether it be with our school canteen, P & F Events, school camps, GLOW Week or classroom assistance. A reminder to please ensure that your WWCC details are up to date, along with RAHN and VSC training. Further information on our volunteering requirements is available from our website.
