Call Out

Dear fellow Nazarenes

I am reaching out to talk to you about an important need with our local pet shelters and to seek your support in addressing it. Covid Lockdown saw the interest in pet ownership skyrocket, yet post-Covid, people have found they no longer have the time to care for these felines and canines, and the financial crisis we face sees pets abandoned. Pet Rescue alone currently has 1,184 dogs, 1,680 cats and 278 others on top of the major animals ready for adoption.

As you may know, pet shelters play a crucial role in providing care and safety for animals in need. One of the essential yet often overlooked resources they require is towels and blankets. These items are vital for several reasons:

  1. Comfort and Warmth: Towels and blankets provide much-needed comfort and warmth for the animals, especially during colder months. They help create a more homely environment, which can reduce stress and anxiety for the animals.
  2. Health and Hygiene: Clean towels and blankets are necessary for maintaining hygiene. They are used to line bedding areas, clean up messes, and assist with washing and grooming. Regular changes help prevent the spread of illnesses and keep the animals in a healthier condition.
  3. Support for Volunteers: Shelters rely heavily on volunteers who often use towels and blankets to manage daily tasks more effectively. Having an ample supply ensures that the staff and volunteers can maintain the shelter’s high standards of care.

Given the importance of these items, I am reaching out to our community to request donations of old towels (hand or bath towels) and blankets, especially now that spring cleaning is coming up you can give in all your items so it can be given to a good cause.

Thank you for reading this. Your support can make a world of difference to the animals awaiting their forever homes.
