If your family is planning some new horizons and will be moving for the 2025 school year, early notification greatly helps our planning of 2025 staffing and class arrangements. Notifying the office of a move as soon as possible is greatly appreciated.
Hard to believe we're already on the home stretch of 2024, with a huge list of opportunities and activities on the way during an action-packed term. Of course the production is currently taking centre stage, but we're also looking forward to other major events such as 3/4 Camp, the Colour Run, a number of sports opportunities including Division Athletics, Year 6 Graduation activities, and meeting our brand new foundation students and families during our transition programs.
Have a great Term!
With a welcome return of some warmer weather comes a reminder that we are firmly in the 'Sunsmart' period of the year. Please ensure your child has a named, wide-brimmed hat to wear during breaks and outside activities. Students not wearing hats will be asked to play in allocated shaded areas and may miss out on other activities.
We have been very lucky to secure some financial sponsors for the 2024 Production of Ali Baba and The Bongo Bandits, helping reduce costs for families. Our sincere thanks to Team Kids, Next Gen Soccer Academy and Classroom Cuisine for their generous support!
Please refer to the Production page of the newsletter for updates and ticketing information - excitement is definitely building!
With the addition of a matinee show this year, we have encountered an unforeseen challenge related to parking at Monash University during the show. We are very disappointed that these parking requirements were not communicated when we booked the venue.
We have invested significant time and effort to reach a compromise, however Monash University have declined to offer any free or even discounted parking for our matinee performance on Thursday 24th of October. Instead, despite the many thousands of dollars our school is paying to hire the performing arts facility; staff and family members will need to park in the public visitors carpark and use the CelloPark app or parking meters to pay a fee of $4 per hour. We would recommend budgeting for 3 hours of parking ($12) to attend the show. The visitors car park is thankfully very close to the theatre.
Fortunately, parking is free after 4pm so our evening show will not be affected.
We are sincerely sorry for this additional financial impact on families and our staff - had we been made aware of this situation any earlier we would have cancelled the booking and sought an alternative.
Further details about accessing Monash University by car will be forthcoming, we wanted to .
On Sunday, October 20, our school will once again be hosting the Design Thinking Challenge, in the gym from 11am through to 4pm. Students from Years 5&6 have been working in STEAM classes throughout the past term on creative solutions to real-world problems, which they will present to panels of judges as part of the event. Dion from AI Cubed has put together an exciting program once again this year, featuring a range of highly skilled industry professionals as judges, as well as competitors from schools across Melbourne.
As well as the judging presentations, AI Cubed will have a number of displays and activities throughout the program, culminating in some awards to be presented to conclude the program.
Thanks Dion, Charlie (also RMPS Parent) and the AI Cubed team for the opportunity to host this awesome event once again.
