Principals Report

Ms Stephanie Scott

This week we belatedly celebrated the wonderful contribution our SASS staff make to the school. It is testimony to how busy everyone is, that we couldn't find a free afternoon during actual SASS recognition week! On Tuesday SASS staff and the teaching staff who work most closely with them, paused and enjoyed an afternoon tea and time together in the library. Our SASS staff support our students and teaching staff in the office, kitchen, Science lab, Ag farm, the grounds and buildings and of course in the classrooms. Thank you for all that you do - we are tremendously lucky to have such a great team!

A huge congratulations to our new school leaders! We are very proud to announce that we have eight new Yr 11 school leaders. All of them spoke extremely well at our school assembly on leadership and what they will bring to the role of school leader. We are currently in the process of electing our school captains and will announce this at the end of next week. Our school leaders and captains will be inducted at our formal assembly in the last week of term, and they will then have the responsibility of running the Yr 12 graduation assembly.

It was lovely to have Yr 6 students at our school for their last transition visit. I was lucky enough to visit each of their classrooms and see some fantastic artwork, cooking and science and engineering skills! Later that evening we welcomed parents, carers and students to our Yr 6 into 7 information evening. A big thank you to Mrs Koch for organising  and to all the SRC helpers. We look forward to welcoming Yr 6 back on December 3rd for their Orientation Day.

Every day I am proud to be principal of such a wonderful and diverse school, which brings different experiences and opportunities to our students. Last Thursday, for example, we hosted Engineers without Borders, and the presenters told me that we were by far the best secondary school they had ever visited, and they were so impressed by our student's behaviour and enthusiasm. The same week our MC students introduced a Boccia competition to the school, and we are currently in the middle of a hotly contested staff vs student competition! And to top the week off we did extremely well in the Merino Wethers competition!
