Celebrating our quiet leaders who live the school values

The annual Meliora Sequamur Awards night was a celebration of our students' dedication and achievements. The event brought together students, teachers, and families to recognise those who exemplified our school values of curiosity, fairness, humanity, and achievement. Special thanks to our Year 9 “Do You Think You Can Cater” class, who provided a variety of delicious finger foods for everyone to enjoy. Their contribution, alongside the musical talents of the Brass Ensemble, Senior Guitar Ensemble, and a solo by Matthew Lucas on the cello meant a full range of student talent was on display. Thanks also to our Year 11 captains, Charlie, Maddie and Elias who confidently emceed the evening

The Meliora Sequamur Awards, recognise students who 'follow the better path' through contribution to the school or broader community, or through significant personal growth. Students who hold formal leadership positions are not eligible for the awards: they are explicitly about honouring the quiet leadership actions which often go unnoticed. From exemplary leadership in the classroom and extracurricular activities to personal growth, each winner embodies the spirit of the award. Highlights included the acknowledgment of students like Ben Saling-Cohen, known for his creative art practice and leadership in Art Club, and Xiomara Akkerman, whose commitment to excellence both academically and in extracurricular activities inspires so many of her peers.
