From the Head of Junior School

Leadership is our focus for the remainder of the term. It’s very easy to think, I’m not a leader or in a position of responsibility, therefore this doesn’t apply to me. However, when we break down leadership, we see that it is encouraging, supporting and providing direction to others. We’re all capable of this! Leadership is not about power or strength, money or control. Leadership is about serving others.

Matthew 20:28 says, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Let’s all be leaders who listen, serve others and measure success through growth and development verses output, power and control.

It has been so wonderful to see so many people visiting us over the past fortnight, firstly at Father’s Day, then at Grandparents’ Day and lastly on Friday at our Prep Experience Day for our Prep students and their parents commencing in 2025. Each of these events is a wonderful way for our students to share the learning they love and the welcome the community into our school. I trust all involved enjoyed these opportunities to come and see Calrossy Junior School in action.

I am looking forward to seeing many families at our upcoming Parent Teacher Interviews in Week 9. Details to come. Please prioritise this as an opportunity to partner with your child’s class teacher.

We wish Year 4 well as they head off to Sydney this week. They stay in Collaroy by the beach and will adventure through the city over their time in Sydney, and finish at Taronga Zoo. We look forward to hearing their stories, for what promises to be an amazing 3 days away!

Have a great week.
