Art

What a lovely start to term 4!

Prep students have been exploring abstract sculptures with playdough as the medium. The shapes developed have supported the completion of their major artwork from term 3 which have been sent home with students. The artworks are made up of a relief foam print (where the foam is drawn into, painted and stamped) placed onto a background made up of hand-drawn and coloured shapes and patterns. I am very impressed with their outcomes.

Grade 1 & 2 learners have been creating the backing card for their printmaking task in term 3, with students taking their time to refine their work. These completed pieces will be available to view in our upcoming art show in December.

Grade 3 & 4 artists have been introduced to one-point-perspective drawing techniques. These rules for drawing have been utilised to create 3D effects, creating block writing with depth and a street-scape image.

Grade 5 & 6 superstars have began to learn hand embroidery techniques. These practical skills have been supported through a unit exploring fast fashion; looking at the cost of clothing on our environment, the over consumption of clothing and the ethics surrounding production of textile goods for low prices.

Looking forward to another sweet, messy and creative term!
