What's Happening

SSB REMINDER
This is a reminder for those who may have forgotten to utilise their SSB funds. Many families have not been utilising their SSB funds to pay for events, particularly in the junior years. To utilise your SSB funds, you just need to 'consent' to the event and don't make the payment. This will indicate to us that you wish to use any remaining SSB funds for that event.
SAFETY REMINDER
Please remind your children that bikes and scooters must be WALKED across the road when crossing at the lights before and after school.
Also please remind your children to use the designated school crossings when crossing the road for their own safety.
LEARNING PARTNERS SURVEY REMINDER
At Carnegie Primary School, we believe the partnership between school and home is vital to student success. The Department of Education states: “When schools and families work together, children can become more engaged with their schoolwork, achieve better academically, stay in school longer and develop stronger social skills.”
As part of this partnership, CPS will once again include parents in the process of supporting their child/ren to nominate learning partners for 2026.
Moving into a new class is a significant change in a child’s school journey, and we support this through a range of transition activities in Term 4. These activities build confidence, resilience, and the belief that children can manage change successfully.
Each year, students are invited to nominate the names of five peers they learn well with. We encourage parents and carers to be part of this important discussion at home. While we cannot guarantee all nominated peers, we will make every effort to place each child with at least one of their chosen learning partners.
When forming classes, we aim to set up every year for success—balancing friendships, personalities, academic abilities, interests, and preferences. Please note, we are unable to take requests for specific teachers.
To support your child in this process, please complete the Google Form below together with them by Friday 17 October 2025:
If the form is not submitted by this date, your child’s classroom teacher will work with them to nominate five learning partners. Please complete one form per child.
In some cases, there may be peers who are not a suitable fit in the same class. If this applies, please email amanda.miller@education.vic.gov.au with a short explanation by Friday 17 October. While requests will be considered, they cannot always be guaranteed. Please note that previous year requests do not carry over, as relationships and dynamics change from year to year.
Thank you for taking the time to have this important conversation with your child. Together, we look forward to setting up another successful year of learning in 2026.
