Friday Morning Masses for Term 4 and Festival of Carols and Readings
Don’t forget that everyone is welcome to join us for Friday morning Mass each week; 8:10 AM in the College Chapel. It is a wonderful way to start the day with some peace, and to connect the different elements of our community – students, staff, parents and friends.
As we continue to reflect on how we can be a truly Inclusive Community, we invite you to join us and connect with others and God, as this term we remember October as the Month of the Rosary, November as the Month of Remembrance and December at the start of the new Liturgical Year with Advent.
Masses will be led by the following cohorts, but everyone is welcome every week:
| Date | Cohort |
|---|---|
| 24 October | Year 6 |
| 31 October | Staff (dedicated to All Saints Day and All Souls Day) |
| 7 November | Year 7 |
| 14 November | Year 10 |
| 21 November | Year 9 |
| 28 November | Year 11 (leading into Advent) |
Also mark your calendars for the College’s Annual Festival of Carols and Readings on Wednesday 26 November at 6:30 PM in the Chapel. This is a beautiful night to stop and remember our Christian story, as we reflect on the joy and hope of the upcoming Christmas season. All of Year 7 will be present and everyone else is welcome to join us in celebration.
We are reminded that our faith tradition is one based on love, expressed through justice, mercy and compassion. Let’s fill our hearts through worship so we may ‘be’ Christ for others.
SOL Service Conclusion for 2025
Shining Our Light Service for 2025 concludes on Sunday 2 November.
All recorded service is due to Homeroom Teachers on Monday 3 November.
Students are to remove and submit pages 17/18 (double-sided) from the College Diary to their Class/Homeroom Teacher, after having been recording their points throughout the year. Submission can be early but not late.
ALL students are urged to look over the documents on their CANVAS pages so they know what will and will not accepted as well as the value of all activities. Parents/carers can access these documents on the TASS Parent Lounge/Orbit App. (They have been there since the end of 2024.)
Completion and Non-Completion of SOL Service will go on the end of year reports, plus will be recorded on each student’s file. These are also recorded on future Statements of Involvement and Service for the College and will play a role in leadership selections.
ALL service needs to be stamped and signed by the organisers of activities / service, or they will not be accepted. Should there be any questions regarding SOL Service they are to be sent to SOLservice@spc.nsw.edu.au.
All students who have completed their SOL Service will be acknowledged with a certificate, and those who have not completed it will have a consequence (which may take place in the holidays). We do not want service to have punitive consequences, but it appears it is necessary for some people to get involved in doing what is our duty and responsibility as a Christian and as a human being/member of society. These expectations have been made clear since the end of last year, when the new season of service began, and they are supported by the College Leadership Team.
Documentation for 2026 SOL Service will be distributed in Week 6 of this term. Service for next year can begin then.
SOL Service is ultimately the responsibility of each student, but we understand sometimes parents/carers are needed to help. It should not be an onerous task, especially when students work consistently on it over 12 months. It may be stressful if students are now looking at what they can do - sadly, it is too late, and parents/carers - this is not your responsibility. There were many times throughout the year when we could not fill all volunteer spots, sadly. This is due to lack of student uptake thus they need to see the consequences.
I saw some great and authentic service from many students over the past 12 months. Congratulations to those who take the time to serve and who go above and beyond for the greater good.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to the College’s Enrolment Policy and to the wider community.
