Acting Principal

It has been a busy week as we welcomed our young men back to the College. I always love it when they get back. They are so excited to see their friends and catch up with each other and share stories of what they did over the holidays. It was great for me to meet my new Economics class as I get to help guide them over the next twelve months towards their HSC.
On Thursday I was down at the start of the HSC English Paper 1 exam. There were a few nervous young men. That is natural, I reminded them that they have done the hard work and that they needed to believe in themselves. The HSC is a culmination of 13 years of schooling. For eight of those years most of them have spent them here at SPC. There is a lot of work that goes into getting them ready for their HSC and last Thursday, I also took the opportunity to thank all the staff who have put so much time and effort into helping to get our young men ready. I didn’t just thank the Year 12 teachers who have guided them over the past two years — I thanked all the staff, including our support staff. And it starts with our Stage 3 teachers in Years 5 and 6. It is often said that it takes a village to raise a child. At St Patrick’s College we have an amazing village, that includes staff, students and parents/carers.
As our Year 12 cohort begins to finish their HSC exams over the coming weeks, we were excited to welcome the Class of 2033 to the College last Saturday. Year 5 2026 were also here to do their AAS testing, meet each other and share a meal. It is amazing how fast time slips by and as one cohort finishes, another cohort starts. The large waiting list to join SPC is a testament to the strength of our community. We should never take for granted how fortunate we are to be part of it. Over the next few weeks, the Summer Co-Curricular season will be in full swing, and I look forward to seeing many of you on the sidelines.
