Grade 2 Sleepover Success!

After watching their teddies enjoy their special sleepover the week before, our Grade 2s could hardly contain their excitement when it was finally their turn! With sleeping bags, pillows, and (for some) half their bedroom packed, they arrived at school ready for a night to remember.

Beds were set up across the Grade 5 and 6 areas. There were some very creative sleeping arrangements, from perfectly neat rows to what can only be described as ‘a fort of chaos’.

Once settled, students were off on an Amazing Race in teams, taking part in a range of physical and mental challenges. From puzzles to balance beams, teamwork was the name of the game — and the competition was fierce…but friendly!

After all that action, dinner was also a hit. Pizza and ice cream, a combination that never fails to delight (or cause sugar-fuelled giggles).

Then came the highlight of the night: The Grade 2 Talent Show! Every student had prepared an act to perform in front of the year level and three very special guest judges Cool Garry, Birdy Bye Bye and Neffafity McDonald. We saw everything from singing and dancing to jokes, magic tricks, and even a surprise performances from Cool Garry. The judges were impressed and the audience was extremely entertained!

With teeth brushed and pyjamas on, it was time for bed. Though ‘bedtime’ didn’t exactly mean ‘sleep time’. After some whispering, giggling and the occasional snore, everyone eventually drifted off for at least a few hours of sleep.

When the sun rose, so did our bright-eyed (and not-so-bright-eyed) Year 2s. We started the morning with some cartoons while breakfast was prepared. A well-earned meal of toast, cereal and fruit.

By the time families arrived, our tired but proud campers were ready for home…and maybe another nap!

A huge thank you to all the wonderful parent helpers who assisted with meals, and to all families for preparing your children for this milestone experience. We know it can feel daunting at first, but as our students now know, it’s a night full of laughter, confidence building and memories! The experience will prepare them well for the upcoming camps in the years ahead of them.

From the Grade 6 Camp

We all had an amazing time at Grade 6 Warrnambool Camp. We did surfing, scone making, bowling, mini golf and so many more fun activities. To get there we took the Vline train which took us 3 and a half hours but it was a great way to travel. Everyone loved all of the activities and didn't want to leave. Cleo Fitzsimmons says, “I loved surfing because it was fun getting to try new things and getting to hang out with my friends.” This may just be one person's favourite but since our grade 6 community is so diverse everyone had different  ideas of the best activity that we did. Such as Lily who loved the scavenger hunt and Rianna who loved bowling and thought it was an amazing experience.

The dinners we had every night were very delicious. We had fish and chips with a salad, schnitzel and chips with a salad, Carbonara and bolognese. As Zoe said, “The dinners were amazing and I couldn’t have imagined any other breakfast than what we ate for camp. The dinners were from a restaurant called “Images” which was cooked fresh and served in a very fast manner.

We did not just have activities that were planned we also had other activities like when we went to the hill and also going to the playground on the first day. There was one very colourful activity which was the light show that had the history of whale hunting and how they used the whales for clothes, oil, supplies and also food. On the last day we went on the 3 and a half hour train ride and then got a bus back to school. Our families were all excited to see us and gave us a big hug!
