Values Celebration day

Celebrating Our School Values: A Wonderful Afternoon of Learning, Kindness & Growth

Last term, our school came alive with energy and purpose as students took part in a special Values Day — a celebration of our new school values: Be Kind • Be Responsible • Be an Active Learner

A series of fun, hands-on activities designed to bring these values to life — all in mixed-level groups, so our older students could mentor and role model for younger ones.

Be Kind — Friendship Bracelets

To explore kindness, students created friendship bracelets from wool. They practised new knotting techniques, patiently mastering the patterns and putting care into each bracelet. As they worked, older students guided younger ones, offering tips, encouragement, and gentle support. Colourful bracelets and kind words were shared between students

Be Responsible — Caring for Pea Plants

To explore being responsible, they learned what a pea plant needs to grow — sunlight, water, soil, space — and discussed how to care for it. Then, each student planted their own seed, promising to look after it over the coming weeks. This activity gave them hands-on experience in nurturing something over time, teaching them that responsibility is not just about doing something once, but sustaining effort and care.

Be an Active Learner — Origami Animal Creations

Our students embraced active learning by exploring origami. In their mixed groups, they followed instructions, experimented with folds, and collaboratively made paper animals. They helped one another troubleshoot tricky folds, shared folding techniques, and celebrated each creation together. It was a vivid reminder that learning is an active, collaborative journey.

It was heartwarming to watch the older students patiently guide their younger peers. Offering help, with genuine kindness and respect. It was lovely to observe younger students looking up to them as role models. The joy of learning new skills whether knotting wool, planting seeds, or folding origami was evident in every face, in the concentration, laughter, and chatter echoing through the classrooms. Teachers commented on the beautiful interactions: cooperation, encouragement, and mutual support wove their way through every group, reflecting with clarity how our school values came truly alive that afternoon.

This Values Day was more than a single event — it set the tone for embedding our values into daily school life. Over the coming term, teachers will revisit these values and how they can be displayed in different settings across our school community.

A huge thank you to all students, staff, and helpers for making the day a success. Together, we are weaving kindness, being responsible and being an active learner into the heart of our school community.
