As the Year 12 boarders draw closer to the end of their journey in Mac and Speirs House, there’s a real sense of pride and reflection around our community. During the last week of the holiday, they were all revising for their upcoming VCE exams.
This is not only an exceptionally good time for all to develop the strong habit of revision with the support of staff, but also a positive time for growing independence, organisation, and self-discipline.
Beyond their academic focus, the Year 12 students have continued to contribute to the life and spirit of the boarding community. They’ve been central figures in setting high standards of a positive, supportive and safe culture.
This has included guiding younger boarders through the ups and downs of boarding life and setting the tone for what it means to live with kindness and respect at College. As they begin their transition to the end of their time at College and the Boarding House, a growing feeling of excitement and nervousness prevails.
Ahead of their final weeks, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to each of them — and to their families — for the trust, energy, and warmth they’ve brought to our community.
This term, we are delighted to welcome two new students into our boarding community — Kinzie (Year 8) and Camilla (Year 9). Both girls have settled in wonderfully well, thanks to the assistance and guidance of Celestine, Mackenzie and Donna. Their arrival has added even greater energy and enthusiasm to the Mac House, which is very full indeed.
Starting boarding life can be both an exciting and challenging transition, but Kinzie and Camilla have approached it with a positive mindset, well done girls. We look forward to sharing your boarding journey, and all the success this will bring.
