Year 9s Return from Vietnam: New Perspectives and Friendships

The Year 9 students have just returned from a successful and unforgettable overseas adventure to Vietnam, and the excitement and growth they brought back with them has been tangible throughout the school. The trip was not just a cultural exploration, but also an opportunity for our students to reflect on their own lives, build new friendships, and experience the profound benefits of sharing an international journey together.

One of the most remarkable outcomes has been the students’ renewed sense of gratitude for what they have at home. Experiencing life in a different country and witnessing both the beauty and challenges of daily living in Vietnam gave our students a fresh perspective. Many have expressed appreciation for the comforts and opportunities they often took for granted, from family meals to access to education and leisure activities.

Perhaps even more heartwarming is the way our Year 9s have, upon their return to Term Four, started socialising and mixing with peers they may not have previously connected with. The trip’s group activities, shared challenges, and moments of wonder broke down social barriers, encouraging students to step outside their usual circles. It’s been wonderful to see new friendships blossom and a stronger sense of unity develop within each Vietnam Group and the cohort as a whole.

The benefits of this shared experience extend beyond cultural knowledge and sightseeing. By navigating new environments together, relying on one another, and sharing both the highs and lows of international travel, our students have forged lasting bonds. These connections and memories will enrich their school life and personal growth for years to come. I do hope that this experience will be a highlight of their time at College!

Congratulations to the students - you embraced this journey with open minds, and we look forward to seeing how this global opportunity will shape you you, both inside and outside the classroom. The Year 8s should be excited about their opportunity to excel in 2026.
